And the article. I think there are just some random people picked.
Tennessee Vols: What Jon Gruden's Staff Could Look Like
ETA: The list:
Offensive coordinator/wide receivers: Tee Martin
Quarterbacks: Tim Berbenich
Running backs: Jay Graham
Offensive line: Jeff Jagodzinski
Tight ends/special teams: Ron Middleton
Defensive coordinator: Love Smith
Linebackers: Hardy Nickerson
Defensive line: John Scott Jr
Defensive backs: Raheem Morris
Yeah I think the author is just throwing a bunch of sh*t against the wall. Lovie Smith is going to resign as head coach at a P5 program to take a DC job? And there are some pretty obvious names that he left off.
This is speculation only; I have no inside sources.
If it is true that the AD is removing all internal political barriers
If it is true that the money, regardless of the amount needed, is pledged
If it is true that Currie has a big swinging dick and a monster ego
If it is true that the #1, #2, and #3 targets are Gruden, Gruden and Gruden
If it is true that Peyton is acting in the capacity of Sheriff and is helping us woo Gruden to UT and not to Indianapolis
Then I put our chances at 80% of landing him
1. Optics of firing. Hate to say it, but it is an anticipated ugly loss.
2. Butch made a point when he was hired to say that the end goal was championships. Championships mean you have to beat Bama. Butch is O-fer.
3. Bad look to saddle either an interim or new full time coach with a Bama beat down. This loss needs to be totally on Butch, as the architect of our current situation. Think of this game as an emphatic period at the end of the Butch Jones era.
Maybe Charlton Warren, he seems highly respected in the profession. Honestly I think that might be it though.
If it's true Shoop has been handcuffed his entire stay (Penn St. lawsuit settled? pending would explain staying in lieu of handcuffed....) by Butch; then I could see an offensive minded HC keeping Shoop.
I think Gruden would want to remove any and all negativity associated with this program. That would include removing entire staff and starting with a clean slate regardless of any talent.
If he can get Morris, then I believe Warren would be gone. If not I wouldn't mind seeing Warren stay.
