Sounds more like a retirement plan than a coaching plan. Would you give up his job to fly around the country 10 months out of the year sitting in mom's and dad's living rooms trying to convince them to send their son to your school? Sometimes your doing this after playing a football game the day before or your trying to get ready for this week's game. Then you get little Johnny and you have to worry about boosters and others screwing up what you have my getting your program nailed by the NCAA. You'll be coaching in the toughest conference in the country and your West rivalry game every year is against arguably the best program that's existed to date that seems to be pretty much set on cruise control. Finally, you have to have the patience and temperament because it'll take 3 years to get past Butch Jones mess he left you. No thanks, I'll just keep flying first class from Monday Night city to Monday Night city prepping for my next broadcast 15 times a year, collecting my multi-million dollar paycheck, and as a result everyone will always think I could've turned around this or that college program. Plus, I have summers off. I can't lose! Bartender, can you top that off for me?

Whew, you've won me over. No Gruden. Lol

People will believe whatever they want regardless how lacking in credibilty it is. Group think and emotions have taken over.

If it's said enough on the interwebs, it becomes fact.

I don't know why we have to have all of the back and forth. It's time we take it from his own mouth. Gruden himself said that Tennessee is a dream job. That right there should end the discussion about will he come/won't he come.

If Tennessee gets its ducks in a row, and we have heard from several that that is the case, barring a huge change in attitude towards Tennessee, Gruden will be the next coach.

Can always detect who has had financial successes in life by posts like this.

Sitting on the beach all day doing nothing gets boring after awhile. Guys like Gruden are high energy, driven dudes. Why do you think he still gets up at 4am, drives to an office, and spends all day watching football film? He s publicly stated he does it so he will be ready when he decided to get back into coaching. I'm not saying he comes here but he is not out sipping mai tai's by the pool all day just because he has $50M in the bank. He is a human being who has motivation, desires, and wants to fulfill just like anyone else and money doesn't change that

Evidently you were absent from English class the day the teacher discussed satire. That's spelled S-A-T-I-R-E.

BTW, I've busted my butt in the construction industry from the ground up earning every cent I wish I had. Don't presume to know who or what I am.

A little defensive there hoss. To your point we will never know since neither will be a VOL coach. However, as I said, what we do know is each one one Super Bowl and now have TV careers. That's all we know.

Whoa there, all we know is there is only one Gruden and we do not anger him.

Some chatter out there that Peyton could be an NFL GM as soon as next season. Hopefully he's courting Gruden for UT and not an NFL gig.

The guy has a 54% win percentage as a head coach and won a super bowl with a team built by another coach. Look at what he did after he won the super bowl. Not very impressive. I just don't understand the infatuation with him.

Great argument that nobody has heard before. Thanks for sharing.

I'm convinced.
