I don't entirely disagree. But if (always the if) Lyle is fired after this Saturday and an interim steps in, nobody is going to think they have a snowball's chance at winning against Bama.

I realize there's not a chance of locking in a new coach by then, but if the scenario played out like I outlined, nobody could or should blame an interim for the loss.

Gruden would instantly turn the program around. If we had hired him last time we would have won another national championship. Please do not hire another bargain basement coach from Conference USA or non P5 school. It's hit or miss with those coaches and we are 0-2.

Yes, it's true. Certain boosters have Jones' personal number and call him after games to advise for good or ill. It used to happen at Alabama. Saban shut it down there with basically a them or me manifest to the Alabama AD.

Only reason Garth ain't on mine is he went nuttier than squirrel crap right before he "retired" and put out some awful stuff imo.

I do like his new song and hopefully he continues down this path.

Love his early stuff.

I think you're right, no one would blame an interim for the loss. But I believe the prevailing line of thinking is that Butch deserves what is coming, and it really allows the administration to draw a bright line between Butch and whoever comes next.
