But if he loses to SC i'd say it speeds things up and bit possibly

No, it won't change the timetable. Everyone jonesing for updates needs to settle down. The decision has been made, but we won't get a formal acknowledgement until after Bama. SC result isn't going to change anything either way.

Which of these makes you want Butch gone the most?

1. Coaching Decisions
2. Lack of player Development (wins/losses)
3. His quotes

It is all for me but #3 makes us the laughing stock of football.

In order I would say 2,1,3. 3 is just insult to injury, if we were good it would be irrelevant.

I do think Butch needs credit for bringing a pulse to a flatlining program and doing it by the book. We are just never going to get over that hump. I don't think he's done being a CFB coach, just no future at Tennessee.

Good to know. You would probably know more than me.

Thanks for the info. How come after Bama? It's not like anyone is expecting us to win that game. That sounds weird, right?

My theory is that it might renew some team enthusiasm after a horrible beat down. Plus it would make a firing appear more justified at that time especially if we lose to SC Saturday.

I took it on the chin over Gruden last time. Still haven't recovered. That is why I've not predicted anything. And won't no matter what I hear.

Gruden is who I want, and the type of perception changing hire this program needs. He's my 1a, and 1b...don't much care after that. There are a couple of names that would satisfy me...outside of those we're just settling.

That being said, I'm happy with everything I am hearing.

So what I'm hearing is

Soon!

Wheels were put in motion after GA...Saturday night actually. People were heated after the game. This isn't make or break...not even Bama is. There is no set timeline....relax.

This is spot on. I disagree slightly with one statement you make below about "no set number of wins," but you're right otherwise, and your source/s could have had a slightly different feeling that night than mine.

I like the first part of your theory. But hear me out...for the Butch butt lickers, it might seem to them that they aren't being fair to him if they do it after Bama. Course, for the butt lickers, they'll be pissed no matter when he's fired, so I guess it doesn't matter when.

2. all the way. all the talent that has been/is being squandered is just ridiculous. His stupid quotes wouldn't be nearly as stupid if he was winning games that mattered.

Will likely give the interim a more manageable stretch to finish the season.

Exactly. Why saddle an interim with such a mismatch as his first game. Get through the loss (which everyone expects) and let the interim try to reinvigorate the team for enough wins down the stretch to get a bowl. Interim has a feather in his cap/resume and the kids get something out of the season.

1. Optics of firing. Hate to say it, but it is an anticipated ugly loss.
2. Butch made a point when he was hired to say that the end goal was championships. Championships mean you have to beat Bama. Butch is O-fer.
3. Bad look to saddle either an interim or new full time coach with a Bama beat down. This loss needs to be totally on Butch, as the architect of our current situation. Think of this game as an emphatic period at the end of the Butch Jones era.

Good read. Thanks.

Update on the world outside of the Gruden thread...

Apparently, UT is the victim of some major cyber attack. This attack has brainwashed the more feeble minded (us) into turning on Butch. The only motive I can come up with, keeping in mind that I am intellectually feeble, is that other programs are concerned with with our rapid rise to the top of the football world and seek to keep us in a perpetual rebuilding mode.

Just a heads up.
The Butchites have gone full Alex Jones.

Boro or anyone else with info- a poster in the RF said Butch and other coaches have to deal with boosters after every game and that might have been a deterrent for Gruden previously. Is that true that boosters are wanting to talk to the coach that often and on game days? That seemed odd to me.

I am thankful for this information and for the rest of VN for taking such a concern for my mental well being.... I knew I had issues but never considered that I could have been brain washed ............... Yet my theory is a little different on how I was brain washed, I figure it came from watching the same plays being run over and over in an offense that just doesn't work........... Has a way of lulling a feeble minded guy like myself into a deep trance thus opening ones mind to brain washing
