In life there is one thing that gets us up and putting one foot in front of each other .. Hope. The main reason I hit refresh screen so many times 5 years ago was for hope for I really believed CJG would bring that relevance back. When I saw Dave Hart and CBJ get into that white car st the airport it looked so wrong and I believed he looked like he was scared . I am thankful that my Dad lived to see 98 ...more than most get. Thankful for all the amazing games with my whole family even the losses of course because it has always been about the time we spent together. We always had a chance in those games. Would just like to be able to take my son and grandson to games where we look sharp and compete against the best of the best . My son and me went to the Fl game and he said . “ wow they came back looked so much better than I remember “ he was young at the swamp in 03. I said son it was a great day and I am sad Weekend is over. One day we will win more of these big games than lose . Gruden I believe will deliver this..

I haven't read every post in this thread (just don't have that kind of time) but now that Fulmer is an employee of the university and Peyton is no longer an NFL QB, and having dealt with Currie on business matters, I wouldn't be surprised if Currie has enlisted Fulmer and Manning assistance. I think both Fulmer and Manning have a lot to bring to the table in how to go about firing the current coach and finding the next one.

Not bad for only the second post after being a member from 2009

I agree. I would love to at least be in the hunt every 3 out of 4 years and win 2 out of every 4 years. I know what it was like back in the late 90's also. UT was a team to be reckoned with. Back then and teams knew they had to play their best game to win and even then it may not be enough. I want to feel that way again about UT football. GBO SOON

Letting Fulmer pick our next coach is like letting your ex-wife pick your new wife.

So "if" Currie is looking in the professional ranks and Gruden is coming home, I would venture to say that he will be bringing some professional coaches with him. ERGO the search for assistant coaches would have to done very carefully due to NFL rules (Could not find specific rules for NFL assistant's interviewing for college jobs).

Soon!

Swanson's break down of what he said:

john gruden would be a better coach now than he ever was in years past. He's compiled volumes on the spread offense and has developed his own version of it. He still loves developing players and is great with qb's. All you have to do is watch him at a clinic. He has a model for recruiting that he would implement if he were to ever get back into coaching and has a list of assistants that he would immediately bring with him if it were to ever happen. He's mellowed out, is a great motivator and is exactly the type of coach you want to manage egos. You can make comments like "he backed into a super bowl" but you would be wrong. You don't "back" into winning a super bowl. I'm not saying that he will be the coach at ut but if you've ever been around him, you have no doubt that he could be a very good college football coach. If they go after gruden, it's going to be a great sign that they are going to fish in the deep water.

Nothing ham handed about currie. Guy is as sharp as they come.

Alot of folks who have thought it an impossibility that gruden is an option are hearing exactly the opposite right now. Some things are changing on the hill.

Obviously there's only back channel type work being done but the ball is definitely in play.

It isn't a recent development. Alot of folks are rowing in the same direction right now.

I still don't see chip kelly being an option. No way that there will be a consensus on him.

On putting odds on new coach:

Kelly? No chance. Gruden? Wish i could put a number on that. I'll just say this, if he doesn't end up being the hc here it won't be because of ut.

No one from ut is actually talking to john gruden. It is all speculative questions asked and answered by 3rd parties. It is how business is done in cfb. Coaches that are currently employed reach out to other schools in the same fashion. Most of this news is coming from the ut side of things. There is a plan and it is being worked.

So in other words it's a done deal. Just working out details.
