I could be wrong and don't have any connections like some on here seem to have, but I do think Butch has a chance to save his job. Win all but Bama (maybe 1 more) and he's back IMO.

However, if I'm wrong I like the fact we didn't rush and fire Butch. Take a few weeks, make sure we have a really Grude, I mean good, replacement in place. That way we don't pay 9M to replace Butch..... With another Butch.

The team is in complete disarray. We will drop 1-2 more besides Bama.

Oh, I agree. Think we win maybe 6 games. Maybe.

Just saying if Butch somehow were to win 9 games (he won't) he safe IMO.

That’s the worst thing that could happen IMHO. Great for this year but bad long term. The shine is off of the turd. No way he makes it through next year’s brutal schedule.

Why does everyone thinks Jon Gruden will be the savior for TN football. As far as I know he's never been a head coach in the SEC. He makes a little over 6 Million per year working for the liberal left wing network known as ESPN. I just hope TN does not make another mistake by hiring someone who has never coached in the SEC. Now this man has. He served as head coach at Louisiana State University from 2005 to 2016 and at Oklahoma State University from 2001 to 2004. Miles is nicknamed "The Hat" for his signature white cap, as well as "The Mad Hatter" for his eccentricities and play-calling habits.[1] Prior to being a head coach, he was an assistant coach at Oklahoma State as well as at the University of Michigan, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and with the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). Miles led the 2007 LSU Tigers football team to a win in the BCS National Championship Game against Ohio State, 38–24. "I want you to know something," Miles said last October. "I have 10 or 12 years left in me. There's plenty of energy in this body. I'm not a guy who lends himself to excesses, and I have great health. Let's go find us a place where the school wants to invest and win. And I say, 'Let's go!'' “I want to coach football," he said. "That’s pretty simple. I want an opportunity at a place that can win and a place where they really want to invest in the players. If they do that, I’m good.” "It's pretty obvious now what I want to do," Miles said. "I want to hire a great staff and chase a national championship at a place that wants this pursuit. I want to recruit again. I want an AD and president to say, 'I'm with you, let's go do this.' I want them with me." Don't let this coach get away. There are a lot of schools that may pick him up. Let's be the first. I'm done...

If anything...hang the earth shattering beat down we gonna get from Bama on Butch. He got us there, let him own that one....it certainly wouldn't be good for the morale of an interim coach to take it in the face in his first game.

This. And the players deserve the best chance they can have to finish the season the best way they can after that game

It's pretty strange to think that none of the insiders are getting info from their booster friends... yet someone would've apparently had to have blabbed to Finebaum?

Don't forget that Finebaum attended UT, so he probably has quite a few contacts there

They gonna start a Gruden thread too...just like last time. Hahaha

It's weird reading the same things, especially the year 5 year 5 year 5. It is somehow comforting to know we aren't the only ones feeling the pain. Bielema is a more sympathetic character than Butch, IMO...maybe because he isn't the coach of my team.

Honestly I wouldn't be mad at Miles. If I was someone in power at the University, he would be high on my list and one of the top targets that I would make tell me no.

However... can't stop GRUDENMANIA at this point, baby!

Soon

Welcome to the board. There's a really good post in this thread explaining Gruden's success. You'd just have to dig to find it.

If a few Ppl say no, I'm all for Les. I believe he's underrated by many. If Gruden and Kelly say no, I'd be happy with Les.

Just a tip. I hate being the grammar guy (bc mine's not exactly amazing, lol) but on long posts paragraphs do help.

Again, welcome aboard.

Terribly ironic!!

Irrelevant. We beat SC this year.

Because we fire Butch at midnight tonight, Gruden is announced as the new head coach at 8 am tomorrow.
He then installs his new gameplan, gets 1 week of practice and beats the brakes off them.

Then he goes undefeated the rest of the year.

Saban see the writing on the wall and retires.

9 SEC coaches resign at the end of the year.

We go undefeated the next 10 years, including beating bama so bad they end up with -2 points, the first negative score in NCAA history.

Anyway, that's why we beat them.
