IF you remove 3 years of his career lol, 3 years is significant.. if's and but's. You can't remove them, They happened.

It's not even a third of his entire career. It's not like I'm saying "well if you remove the 6 best years of his 11 year career he wasn't good." The other two-thirds of his career was totally mediocre.

Outside of those 3 years, he only made the playoffs twice and went one-and-done both times. My point is that he had a 3-year stretch when he was great, but did absolutely nothing of note outside of that. He had a loaded team his first year in TB, won a SB with them, and then didn't even win a playoff game after that. He was just 2 games over .500 (57-55) overall in TB. I'd wager that if he lost that SB, just that one single game, he wouldn't even be thought of as a good coach.

People around here act like he's some NFL legend. He's not even close to that.

"In a meeting. If this is about football, I'll call you when I know something. If this is about the ##### #### I'll be available in about 20 minutes."

Then I got another text 2 seconds later.

"Dick!!"

I have friends like that and they don't come any better.

It's running mild so far tonight but it's early and most off us are old and drink slower than we used to. It will liven up.

I remember back during the original Gruden threads (I mostly lurked back then) how there would be an almost formal turnover between the "day shift" and "night shift" to keep the party going.

I could be down with Gruden. I also think he could be a great recruiter, and I know he would be a great QB developer;

However I would much rather have a great, proven college coach to lead Tennessee back into contention. For me Gruden is almost more of a name than a sure thing in college football.

Did all the good grumors get used up in the other 16 parts of this thread?

I swear there was prob a dozen people who actually thought last night was the night........and prob half a dozen or more how thought it could be happening.

From the Paul Finebaum interview, to the way he left the show last night, to the fight, to the "dui" to the twitter stuff........yea last night was a good one.

Round one, I suspect many more to follow.
Stock up on the beer and popcorn

Right and I do get your point. But to be fair, winning the Super Bowl is a big pretty deal. and I get the conditions of that win too, but still.. winning the biggest game there is in the sport of football. That's impressive no matter how you slice it imo

Can anyone verify that John a gruden is at the Jefferson County High School football game tonight? Been seeing the Grumors on Twitter 👀

How much is he making on MNF? It'd have to be at least double that for him to even consider. He has the greatest job in the world.

Not taking sides either way, but to play devil's advocate for the money debate, he also makes 7M annually on a network that is literally hemorrhaging cash and is going through layoffs on a fairly consistent basis to shore up its footing for a bit longer... So how long before they come for some of their higher end talent and suggest they think they are going to go in a different direction? Granted, JG has a contract through 2021, but that's coming up pretty quickly.
