That's the thing they're all saying.
It's like there reading talking points.

The one guy I trust that I talked to tonight, told me to "just wait and see. It will be like nothing I could imagine."

He was right. The Pink peppercorn and lemongrass kafir lime bechamel over the seared sea scallops was, like nothing I could imagine.

Bon was the shet, but I like Brian too. Worthy replacement.

By the way, good to see you. Hope you're feeling well.

I feel obligated to say, have a Gruden. They get angry if you don't mention his name or say SOON!

Doing all right.
Brian was a the perfect replacement. Loved that he never did the "get out from under the shadow" thing. Embraced their past.

Oh and obligatory 'soon'...

This is much like the rumor Nick Saban to Alabama....Yeah like that's going to happen....apparently I've been in a coma...looks like nothing has changed...."What's that?"... "Saban DID go to Bama???" " Well bring on the Grudenator.....". MY ACHING BACK!!!

Hey Mayor Rogero you're probably a Vol Nation regular get things started in a big way by renaming Kingston Pike to Gruden Pike.

The meltdown on this board is going to be incredible when we hire someone like D.J. Durkin or Larry Fedora.

Or PJ Fleck. Lol

It's not even a third of his entire career. It's not like I'm saying "well if you remove the 6 best years of his 11 year career he wasn't good." The other two-thirds of his career was totally mediocre.

Outside of those 3 years, he only made the playoffs twice and went one-and-done both times. My point is that he had a 3-year stretch when he was great, but did absolutely nothing of note outside of that. He had a loaded team his first year in TB, won a SB with them, and then didn't even win a playoff game after that. He was just 2 games over .500 (57-55) overall in TB. I'd wager that if he lost that SB, just that one single game, he wouldn't even be thought of as a good coach.

People around here act like he's some NFL legend. He's not even close to that.

Take away the 5 super bowl wins from Tom Brady and Bill then they are only avg... can't take them away...

False comparison and you know it. Belichick has been an incredible coach for an entire career of 17 years with the Patriots. If you take away any 3-year stretch he's still the greatest ever. Gruden? He didn't even win a playoff game outside of that stretch.

Light years ahead of our guy now. Anyway you cut Gruden.

I would argue that you could possibly take like half of all the coaches at the bottom of the FBS and replace Butch with any random one and win 9 games at Tennessee right now.

I'd be surprised if Gruden was a better recruiter than Butch. A better tactical coach, sure, but for all practical purposes, Gruden has never recruited. Recruiting is a huge part of being a college football coach; totally different than being a pro coach.

I really have no idea how good Gruden would be as a college coach. I wouldn't be stunned if his teams were good, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he had trouble adapting to the things unique to the college game and struggled. He isn't coming to Tennessee anyway, but even if he was it would be far from a sure thing he'd meet expectations here. And if he didn't win the SEC by about year 2, the fans would run him off because expectations would be so high.
