Relevance is a hire away. All I ask is that we try, as hard as possible, to be relevant again.

I don't care about National Championships...I really don't. I want a team like our early 90's team. I want to be dominant at home, and to be a team that is feared on the road. I want to ruin other teams seasons. I want to compete for the East, and the conference regularly. Anything after that is gravy.

I want the mentality that Gruden would bring...that's all.

I can agree with this completely.... I just get tired of all these fans who think only Saban can recruit and coach.... he is good but not God

I simply want to see us play and compete in every game.... it is crazy talk when people say Gruden will bring a championship his first year.... he will bring a mentality of winning and that is what I want to see again

I see on their timeline they conveniently left off:

2015 - Calls TN his dream job.

"I don't know how close," Gruden said Thursday when asked if he was close to accepting the UT job when it opened after the 2012 season. "I love football. I'll be the first to tell you, I miss coaching. But I do look at my job here as a lot like coaching. I get a chance to be around it 364 days a year and I feel like I'm improving, but I don't have a team. Tennessee is a dream job for a lot of people, me included. Timing wasn't right.

Boro, do you actually believe there is a chance this time, or are you just having fun with this?

I'll repeat what I've been told to be true, and what I've said since last Monday.

Butch is gone. The financial and institutional impediments to landing a BIG coach are removed. Currie has been tasked with making our splash hire in exchange for full support from the boosters and power players.

I've heard no names. Nobody is talking.

Yes, I believe it is possible, again, this time. The issues that kept it from really happening last time are gone.

That being said....I have no idea if it will happen. But it is my sincerest hope and desire.

Saban isn't a coaching or recruiting god. He is what you get when a very good coach and recruiter pairs with a school that cares about winning. The school bends over backwards to make him happy.

I spoke to someone that had a son being recruited by Alabama baseball last month.

Sabans office overlooks the baseball fields and facilities. I was told that they ate renovating the baseball fields and facilities not because of the baseball coach, but because Saban told them that they were starting to look rundown.

They were told this by the baseball coach lol. Maybe it was said tongue in cheek, maybe not.

It's a perfect storm in Tuscaloosa, great coach, full support from the university, and all the boosters/bagmen. And Saban tell them to butt out when they try to interfere.

It could happen here also, just would take the right coach with a strong will and an open minded administration.

Soon..

Well put, Boro.
That’s how I feel too.

Amen to that!

Gruden would not just be a coach, he would be an investment. I just hope that the academiens (sp?) realize that the more Tennessee is in the headlines (for the positives) the more we can expect in terms of enrollment and national spotlight. I firmly believe you have to "spend money to make money". This would be money well spent IMO.

I, for one, will be looking into the Northern night sky for a sign from Chicago of the coming of the one true Gruden.

Imagine the worry in Bama if we got Gruden. Right now it is easy for them to get the top recruits. If we had Gruden it wouldn't be so easy.

And to add a bit, the issues that were there, were the ones that kept Gruden away.

Bill Parcells once said (paraphrasing it), "if you want me to be the chef, you have to let me pick the groceries."

Having the chance to pick his players each year, is extremely intriguing to Gruden. His offense is complex. He demands a TON from his QB.

Literally this expresses exactly the way I feel...This sentiment is the heart of it all. Just make us relevant again.

Dormady would be a Heisman candidate if Gruden had him.
