But for all the rumors or what not people need to answer this question

No, Gruden needs to answer that question. Maybe he loves the atmosphere and developing players.

Personally the recruiting grind would turn me off of coaching but we can't know his heart.

Because his ballzz are bigger than Chuck Norris', and Paul Bains' combined!!! Cmon'... Anymore questions???!!!

Gruden has made it clear on more than one occasion that he wants to coach again, and WILL coach again. Maybe he doesn't look twice at coaching anywhere except the NFL, but he has said in the past that if he were to coach in college, Tennessee would be the job that could lure him in. At the end of the day, I don't think he would take the job because I don't think UT will pay him what it would take. But skeptics can't afford to dismiss the notion out of hand...not as close as it was to happening in 2012.

The man will forget more about football then any other coach will ever know

Players would recruit themselves to come play for Jon Gruden

Media exposure would be insane

..... just to name a few

Gruden is just a crappy rumor by people who want Butch Jones fired, just like the DUI. Don't fire Jones expecting Gruden and then get angry when we hire Ron Zook or John Bonamego.

That's not how it works. That's just not how it works.

It is a happy Grumor for those that just want our leadership to shoot for the Grude.

Soon.

Because ESPN is losing money and he might make too much for them to keep him long term?

Hello.. he ain't worried about money. He could drag his azz across his front yard like a dog everyday for the rest of his life, and make more money than 99.9 percent of the folks on this board in just interest.

Anyone that believes Gruden will become UT's head coach is too stupid to engage in any realistic or serious discussion, on any subject, related to the Vols.

Not saying he will, but I would suggest to GTFO if it is bothering this much. Would hate for you to personally struggle with reading it.

To those who seriously ask if Gruden is a good coach or try and imply he wasn't good in the NFL....

The Raiders were a disaster area on the Dooley level before he arrived. The Raiders had just finished 4-12, in last place in the AFC West. Al Davis was a known psycho and terrible owner. Within 3 years the Raiders went from last place to 1st place in the AFC West. The Raiders hadn't made the play-offs since the 1993 season. In year 3 under Gruden they lost in the AFC Championship game to the SB champion Ravens. Rich Gannon had been a flat, average or below average QB everywhere he went. His production essentially doubled in Gruden's system. He went on to 4 Pro-Bowls and the NFL MVP award in his mid 30s once he got with Gruden. Al Davis traded Gruden to Tampa Bay because his contract was coming due and Davis didn't want to spend the money to keep him.

Tony Dungy had built a good defensive team in Tampa Bay but was trending down. He hadn't built some juggernaut like some here seem to think. He went 11-5, 10-6 and then 9-7 in his final season in Tampa. He coached them in 4 playoff games but Tampa only scored a total of 32 points in the 4 games. His offense was bad, especially in the playoffs. During this time Tampa was spending money like crazy trying to win the Super Bowl. Their salary cap situation was a disaster and they were going to have to cut bait by the 2002 season. So they went all in on Gruden with the trade to Oakland. It worked. Tampa improved from 9-7 to 12-4 in Gruden's first season. Tampa scored 108 points in their 3 playoff wins. They tied the 1992 Dallas Cowboys for largest margins of victory in the free agency era in the playoffs.

Then the cap issues hit. The owner acknowledged this and knew times would be getting rocky. Gruden got the Bucs back to 11-5 after two down years. There were still cap issues even then.

At the end of his 11 seasons, he'd finished in 1st place in his division 5 times. His .540 winning percentage is actually 26th all time in the Super Bowl era of coaches who were in the league more than 10 seasons. Higher than guys like John Fox, Tom Coughlin, Dan Reeves, Lovie Smith, Jack Del Rio etc who have at minimum coached in the Super Bowl and in the case of Fox and Coughlin won 3 between them.

Would he be a good college coach? Highly likely because he was a very much above average coach in a much tougher setting.

Y'all sons of bit***es actually have me believing this is gonna happen again. It's all I've thought about for 2 days now and I know deep down theres a high percentage chance it's gonna end in a huge disappointment.

Me too. I'm sitting here reading comments making fun of Tennessee football on FB and thinking I can't wait until Gruden gets here to shut these idiots up. Like this so called Bama fan posting nothing but stuff bashing UT. I called him out for being a bandwagon fan because I have known him personally for a long time and he calls me one back. This is his exact quote as to why he isn't a bandwagon bama fan.

"Never Said Go Vols Either... Not Butthurt One Bit... Never Said I Was A Lifelong Bama Fan... I Bacame One Last Year... Its Not Because Of Why You Think... My Best Friend Is Bama, Mel Is From Bama, Her Dad Played For Bama, My Grandfather Is From Bama, And That Tennessee Really Sucks... I Got Tired Of Going With Losers... I Like Being With The Best!!! It Just Feels Right To Me... There Is No Such Thing As Bandwagon The Way You Think You It Is... Your Team Is Your Team No Matter How Sucky They Are...Why Does It Matter Who Your Friends Are For... Sounds Like You're Butthurt Because They Don't Root For Tennessee"
