This.. It makes perfect sense with Bray still undecided and Bcarter stating that the only way Bray stays is with a big name hire... Like Gruden? Don't tell him we know.

Now that the dust has settled after last night's uproar of excitement, I gotta admit I am back to doubting seriously that Gruden is happening. The only thing that gives me hope is Boro and OV...but guys like Jay and DTO have gone missing.

At this point (assuming no Gruden) I would ABSOLUTELY rather bring Fulmer back than hire B. Davis, B. Jones or Smart. If we are gonna suck I would rather suck with one of our own.....

Come on Gruden/Hart/Boosters.....save this pile of crap.

The mere thought of hiring Fulmer back has me thinking seriously about never wearing orange again or going to another game.. It's not because I dislike Phil either it's more that it would be proof positive, to me, that this university does not care about the football program and has its collective head so far up its ass there is no hope what so ever of it being removed....

Yeah, I was on for a while, but there is no way we would go thru this national embarassment and get so far with Strong if it was a smokescreen. I have a feeling we are screwed.

The only hope I am holding out on is that maybe the hangup was money and we'll go back and agree to his terms. Right now it would take a Saban type hire to overshadow the embarassment that this coaching search has become.

Fulmer is in there but cannot stand the thought of turning my back on the Vols so I dismiss that talk for personal reasons.

I believe everyone looks at what coaches are available to hire and only hope that Gruden is still an option. Just like you have pulled Fulmer off the list because of personal reasons we have added Gruden on the list for the same reasons.

I think we can all agree that the great coaching hire to bring us back to stardom is not on your list or the medias list. That part is depressing. But with this Gruden thread we all have hope that the depressing days will not come.

Kiffin was hired before Cheek became Chancellor, Martin became Provost around May 2009. Hart couldn't hire someone like Davis if he wanted too. You think these coaches are just making things up? You think Strong was basically begging for this job(while not being interested in ark or aub) and after some research decided no for no reason? Hart is severely handicapped by those two idiots, believe what you want. We're gonna end up hiring someone like Butch Jones and hope for the best. Cheek continues to say he will do what is necessary to help get football healthy again. People will say he gave back 18 million to the athletic side, that was awful nice, people forget over 100 million was given to the academic side from football alone in a 10-12 year stretch.

Let me ask this. If our academic standards are SO high, tell me one athlete that hasn't gotten in besides the Lofton kid a year or two ago. Also if our standards were so high, how were we able to get the Phillips kid in when Florida couldn't. Doesn't make sense. I think we need to quit regurgitating that tired line of thinking until somebody can produce the actual standards and guidelines for student athletes. I am a high school coach in the mid-state that has seen players go to ALL levels of college and UT admissions have been the least of our worries. If you can clear the clearinghouse and make the right composite ACT and GPA you are good.....end of story.
