If Gruden has been their guy all along it is one slick move by Hart to get all these other coaches to play along so they can get good raises to stay where they are. Hmm...

What if none of it was actually orchestrated but the other coaches simply let the word get out and ran with it on their own?

If this all happens, there is a scenario that makes sense to me.

I always believed that it is always about the money. So, maybe they all met with Gruden and figured out what it was going to cost to get him and his staff here, and then said find three other candidates that we could live with , or maybe they already had them, and will see what it cost to get them.

If the money gap makes sense and we can get one of the other three then we do it. Otherwise we go back to the original plan and sign Gruden.

That would even explain the whole idea of getting one close enough to make you puke. It was all hinging on whether or not Louisville would match UT'd max offer.

Again, I know nothing. I'm just trying to figure out how it all could actually make sense without a "smokescreen" or any other conspiracy theories.

This could be the case. It would tie into Hargis's theory quite well. We felt out Gruden, fully fleshed out a deal to the point that it was almost finished, then apparently backed out, only to verify around the league that the cost/investment was going to be worth it.

yes it was and who knows what might come out of that later..good relations with several coaches...but not ADs lol

People, I'm having more fun and I'm more excited about UT football than I've been in years. I've killed more work time and pissed off more people with my crazy Gruden talk than I care to admit. :)

Win or lose (i.e. Gruden or not), I've had a kickass time with you all Grudenites (smokey, boro, carter, coasty, aj, and everybody else). I remember now why I love this team. You guys rock.

You're not so bad yourself!:salute:

There was confidence tonight and that confidence has turned to real surprise for Tennessee after Louisville head coach Charlie Strong called athletics director Dave Hart to tell him he was declining Harts offer to be his head coach.

With rejections from Strong and Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy on Wednesday, Tennessee is reshuffling the deck and is back to ground zero on their search for a new head coach.

It has been thought that they would turn to North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora. And they likely will. However sources close to Fedora and the North Carolina situation aren't convinced that Fedora would take the job. He's obviously the first name to watch.

After that, it's anyone's guess right now as Tennessee is scrambling to restart a search that they thought was concluded on Wednesday night.

Sounds like the "process" is having the reset button pressed as we speak.
