OGs -one thing I haven't been able to make sense of thru my sources is why take the risk of angering alot of ADs and schools around the country with all the rumors about discussions/negotiations with other coaches. We are essentially getting folks some raises without even doing anything. That can't sit well with these schools.

People like to give s*** to others but most always those same people can't take it when it is dished back.
All I know is after months and waiting and reading it seems like we might be reaching the end. If so, thank to all those people on here from September for all the info and entertainment this thread brought.
Time to change from rumor and speculation..................

Shaking with anticipation ~ me
Shaking in their boots ~ SEC
Shaking Hart's Hand ~ Jon ****ing Gruden

I will say this, though unpopular and without any sources, it does strike me as odd that we clearly offered the position to Strong and he has turned it down. I cannot think of any rational reason we would have offered if we believed we had Gruden. IMO, I would have to fully put the tin foil hat on to wrap my mind around this conspiracy. I hope. No, I pray I'm wrong but this is starting to look just like the Dooley search where we repeatedly got shot down be even second-tier coaches. My biggest fear is that we end up with Smart, Golden, Davis, et al. Again, this is not based on anything but my perception and I will disclose I had more than 1 drink tonight.

It's leaking that Strong only ever met with Cheek, not Hart, which would pretty much imply that all talks of a UT contract were hypothetical.

If Gruden has been their guy all along it is one slick move by Hart to get all these other coaches to play along so they can get good raises to stay where they are. Hmm...

If this all happens, there is a scenario that makes sense to me.

I always believed that it is always about the money. So, maybe they all met with Gruden and figured out what it was going to cost to get him and his staff here, and then said find three other candidates that we could live with , or maybe they already had them, and will see what it cost to get them.

If the money gap makes sense and we can get one of the other three then we do it. Otherwise we go back to the original plan and sign Gruden.

That would even explain the whole idea of getting one close enough to make you puke. It was all hinging on whether or not Louisville would match UT'd max offer.

Again, I know nothing. I'm just trying to figure out how it all could actually make sense without a "smokescreen" or any other conspiracy theories.

OK, I know I am in the Gruden thread and it is for Gruden speculation. My question is,
All of you thinking Gruden is coming, How do you explain Hart offering Strong?
It makes no sense we would offer Strong a coontract. It seems people here are suggesting that we knew Strong would decline. It just makes no sense.

Dont believe what you hear and read..gotta get past that...18 mill was moved into athletic dept...gruden has talked to multiple coaches about being on staff....also just my feelings coaching search way too open my gut doesn't trust that..trust nothing coming from ad sources..media does though..lol. this is most fun i have had in long time..soon..its the only thing that makes sense

There was confidence tonight and that confidence has turned to real surprise for Tennessee after Louisville head coach Charlie Strong called athletics director Dave Hart to tell him he was declining Harts offer to be his head coach.

With rejections from Strong and Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy on Wednesday, Tennessee is reshuffling the deck and is back to ground zero on their search for a new head coach.

It has been thought that they would turn to North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora. And they likely will. However sources close to Fedora and the North Carolina situation aren't convinced that Fedora would take the job. He's obviously the first name to watch.

After that, it's anyone's guess right now as Tennessee is scrambling to restart a search that they thought was concluded on Wednesday night.

Not an insider, not a troll ... just a VOL. Would like to see us get Gruden. But have no idea what will happen Gruden, Strong, Fedora or insert name?Just brainstorming to pass the time.

Short hand version ... For those that have been here the whole time they will connect the dots.
If Hart is as shrewd as some have implied and the master of the smokescreen...in today’s world the forums, etc. are a big part of how people get their news/exchange info, I would use VN as a part of that smokescreen strategy. Especially, if I had to manage to a specific timeline as part of the agreement, wanted the fans engaged and wanted to control the media.

A few well-placed assets (OG? Random Poster?) either (1) get read into the Gruden strategy or (2) are fed information, knowing that they would share that info on some level. Enough to get the base extremely pumped and to manage the chain of events …
“things will appear to get very bad at the end; appearance that other coaches are offered, but will turn us down; Hart saves the day, etc., etc.”;

TFP article comes out apparently blowing things up. (Didn't YFB tell VN to watch TFP before the article was released?) Did they underestimate the Gruden tsumami, did it get out of hand? Was the TFP article a part of the plan or a screw-up? "Insiders" are either shut down or given info that makes them think it is dead or if some "Insiders" are part of the strategy they acted per instructions.

Thru all of this the Gruden Base still hangs on and “holds the line”. Things “appear” to be going as previously presented by the “Insiders”.The roller coaster is still rolling. Glimmers of hope are on the increase … "Insiders" appear with cryptic words of encouragement … YFB (again) comes on saying … I’d watch TFP for breaking news.

The ultimate Troll job, the ultimate coaching search fiasco or the ulimate BOOOM?? Either way it will have been a hell of a ride. I'm glad I got on. Thanks to all for the ride (Y'all know who you are.)
