No one ever stated that Gruden was on that airplane. It was stated that someone associated with Gruden and the Oakland Raiders was on it and that it is inbound from the Oakland area.

Well, I wasn't wanting him back but he is a great CEO. If he throws all the loyalty garbage out the window and will come for $1m/$2m per year while hiring some of the top OC/DC in the country then I'd say we could do worse.

Imagine this. Fulmer is hired, we go pay Chad Morris and Kirby Smart to come as OC/DC, with Tee, Graham, Pittman, and maybe Conklin, Staley with some other great position coaches. We tell Morris/Smart that Fulmer will coach for 4-5yrs and one of them will then take-over the HC position of a top 10-15 program. A cheaper Fulmer surrounded by a young, all-star staff is better than other options out there.

I want to believe the OG's and especially yay4bray...but in the almost 20 years I've been a Tennessee fan they have never shown me they are smart and cunning enough to pull off hiring someone like Gruden, let alone pull the wool over the everyone eyes so well. I just don't believe they have it in them.

I like Strong and think given the chance he could do well at UT. But not for 4 million. He's 2-2.5 million tops. But I can see UT paying 4 million for Strong, because they have shown me over the years they are that stupid.

I really, really hope I'm wrong and Gruden it trotted out on stage (sometime soon) as the next head coach of The University of Tennessee Vols. If not, Hart needs to be sent back Bamaland as quick as possible. He's starting to make Hamilton look competent and I never thought anyone could do that.

when have we ever needed to...30 + years and only had 2 coaches...then when we did need a coach,we had Hammy...enough said on that I guess...Hart is a different animal...

Just because back when I was young and naive I remember actually believing these types of things. Hate seeing people get so excited only to be let down in the end. It always ends the same.

Oh and if we get Gruden...I'll be the first to step up and say the media failed and the message board gurus nailed this from the starts. I've just seen this story one too many times.

I can understand it if it's someone you know, but this is an internet forum. Who cares if it melts down for a day? there will be no repercussions at all.
