Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVIII

After watching the MNF game last night I am still a believer in Gruden to the Hill. It was somewhat apparent that Sean had opened the door "leak" to mention TN when Cam Sutton was introduced. I also believe that after the game there was some innuendo about JG being in Miami next week for MNF.

We were told to watch the game to see if any "clues" would be seen. I don't believe JG would just announce he's leaving and coming to UT on air. AV and other posters here have gone silent and that is not necessarily a bad sign.

I do believe that more leaks will emerge today and maybe one of them is JG leaving MNF. A story like that will steal headlines and allow ESPN to run stories and have tons of traffic on their website to speculate where he might go NFL or college.

Everyone needs to consider the possibility that there is never the kind of closure you are looking for on the #GRUMORS... There is still a certain ilk in the rich & famous of the sports world that thinks they never need to confirm or deny anything to the masses - that their decisions are their own and they owe us minions nothing. Personally, while I'd love to have Gruden as a coach, I do think he's in that same ilk. In other words, the idea that he needs to give us closure on anything is beneath him.

Got a call from the third base coach from Phil's grandsons baseball team, and he told me they have hired a coach and who it was.

Once it is announced I'll let everyone know if I have accurate inside information.

Edit

Don't forget to like this post.

You sound like a troll.

Ok, I’ll play along....

Les and Tee: no longer having to worry about Vandy, and Kentucky. Overall record of 6-1 against Dan Mullen (Florida).Beating Georgia goes back to the way it should be. The only kick on Miles is his record against Saban.

Brohm and the superstars: worrying about Vandy, Kentucky, and Georgia. Never beating Saban and living in Nashville in the post season.

See I can do what you did too...

Sure, is we get LSU's talent then the first option is valid. But we dont.

But my real point is the whole "hc in waiting" idea is toxic imo.

Btw Ed O pulling the same record Les has recently. What a surprise, Les added nothing to the talent. But great talent it is down there.

To my volnation family,
I came home from the whole thing with my mom passing (coroner's and funeral home loading her body and trying to find all the pertinent info to take to the FH this morning) and sat down with my laptop, just to get on the board for a little distraction.

I was absolutely overwhelmed with the outpouring of support i received in this thread. absolutely stunned. i cried reading your posts, but it was a different sort of tears than i'd been shedding. i don't know what to say. thank you seems so feeble.

well, gotta go take care of business. dread it. gonna be a long week. we will have some arrangements in SC, then transported to hometown TN for service and burial.

please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Here for you preach. Hope you find comfort during this time.

1,000% confirmed. They had Matt Hasselback and Louis Riddick instead. I also confirmed (via google) he's been on every other Tuesday morning, on this show, or the Golic/Greenberg that just ended.

AGAIN....He has never been the show on Tuesdays!!!

You really make it sound like you don't understand football that much or at least don't see anything but UT football.

No one wants Gruden more than I do, but when I look around the country there are only a handful of A listers (in terms of name recognition) that are currently coaching that I believe we could get.

Meyer isn't leaving Ohio State. Saban isn't leaving Bama.

Petersen is A. I would love to have him if no Gruden. Patterson is an A lister. There aren't many more. Gundy? Maybe an A-. Probably same for Leach or he's a B+. Is Miles an A or A-? Probably somewhere in that hood just because he's won a natty.

On the B listers, Brohm is at the top of the list IMO. Way higher than someone like Morris or any of the other of the names we've seen thrown around. He's far more accomplished than Tee. In terms of coaching ability, Brohm is A and will be the next Stoops, Meyer, Dabo, etc. He is cut from the same cloth.

Mentioning Brohm with Stoops, Meyer, and Sweeney is speculative at best, and more than likely delusional.

This has nothing to do with Gruden. If Gruden was never born, Brohm would be an equally disappointing choice.

I didn't read the article, but I believe this has to do with the 5G spectrum and the technology he owns in relation to it. This is where his big money will be made....estimated $360 billion.

Hahahaha... this is where his big money will be made.

Well I’ve reached such a place of desperation that your new enthusiasm has me upbeat again!

Fulmer was involved, to some degree, with currie’s search. He has been interviewing candidates all over the country since Friday or Saturday. I would think he has his man by now. If it was Les, we would have had an announcement Sunday. If it was a current coach, I think it would have been announced after their championship game, if they were in one. But nothing. Silence. Fulmer is now in NYC for Peyton and he is sitting tight. You don’t do this unless you are waiting to hear back from someone. Remember Currie in the Bahamas? Fulmer isn’t dumb. He isn’t debating the merits of Steele and Brohm. He’s waiting for his head candidate to respond back.

I think today is the day and if it goes south, we will hear leaks. If it goes well, I think the silence will continue until the presser on Thursday.

Agreed...that's why I said somebody must be more impressed with him than I am.

Like Steele (though to a much higher degree) I think people are being enamored over what he has done this 1 year, rather than looking at value added and full resumes. A lot of DCs could have killed it with UGA's talent. They are top 5 in talent iirc, maybe 4th.

I like it. I’ll take it. Im with Boro though, if they wheel out some hack that barely has a winning record or none at all at a lesser conference, I’m done. They will have to woo me like my name is Gruden.
