To my volnation family,
I came home from the whole thing with my mom passing (coroner's and funeral home loading her body and trying to find all the pertinent info to take to the FH this morning) and sat down with my laptop, just to get on the board for a little distraction.
I was absolutely overwhelmed with the outpouring of support i received in this thread. absolutely stunned. i cried reading your posts, but it was a different sort of tears than i'd been shedding. i don't know what to say. thank you seems so feeble.
well, gotta go take care of business. dread it. gonna be a long week. we will have some arrangements in SC, then transported to hometown TN for service and burial.
please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

The major difference being is we aren't floating out a Chad Morris name specifically. Les Miles, despite some of the folks' objections to, is not a name without merit. Especially if he comes with some of the "supporting cast" so to speak. Chris Petersen is another name that's well respected in coaching circles. If either one are in play, that tends to make the competition stand up and take notice.
I think a few of the names that were floated weren't serious consideration and were more of a "due diligence" thing to keep all options open. Chad Morris isn't a "swing for the fences" name, but rather someone who has the potential and could be the plan G or H. And I'd bet some are just figments of sportswriters (and I use that term loosely with some) imaginations.

Maybe he wasnt talking about UT, but instead the people of Rocky Top. Theyre probably lighting up Grudens phone begging him to come down for Thelma Lues Chilli Cook Off.Sean McDonough speaking to Jon Gruden on Monday Night Football about the Tennessee coaching search: "well if you had just answered the call and said yes, you could have saved them an awful lot of trouble there on Rocky Top." https://twitter.com/marshallhughes/status/937884743282151425/video/1
someone ask for this earlier.
I take it as Sean digging at Gruden for saying Rocky Top on that show.
Nothing to stop him from saying the same thing this go around.
All this Jeff Brohm talk... you know there is a thread for him? We aren't going to go get another "up and comer". Phil wants someone who has been there before and knows how to win championships. He said it him self. He will not take a risk or a project on this hire.
