Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVIII

Still weird he called him rocky top. I've listened to it 5 times and I don't hear an on.

He either knows something or is patronizing Gruden. It's been reported their relationship isn't the best, so who knows.

That post is also what I know. It is the truth. It makes me happy.
1. We get Gruden
2. Gruden says no, but we have an absolute unprecedented counter offer this morning.
3. Fulmer has given everything he can to get him
4. If Gruden does not want to be here at this point I am happy to get another coach. Les Miles

The USC beatwriter above you is interesting.

About to the end of the line for me here with cryptic comments and veiled innuendo.

I'm setting my own deadline on this one. If there is no resolution on this by Friday, someone just email me when we get a new coach. I did my part by helping get change done, but this team and the University as a whole needs to move on from this. And the sooner the better.

Rome wasn't built in a day, I understand and acknowledge this. But enough cutting bait.

I read what happened tonight one of two ways:

1. Gruden is struggling with a decision. Sean's comment might have been meant as a nudge. Maybe he was telling him "The longer you wait to decide, the more torture you're putting those fans through." Or, it could be that Sean and some of the other crew are annoyed with not knowing if they'll need to replace him.

OR

2. I'm going to play devil's advocate here... People wonder why, if he really loves UT, Gruden won't just put a stop to the rumors if he isn't coming. The flip side of this is that he doesn't want to reject UT in front of a national audience. He may not want to cause more embarrassment for us. If he says nothing, we will eventually hire a coach, and no one can claim that he outright rejected us if he never addresses the speculation.

Or, and just follow me here for a sec, he really wants to come to UT, but fears he might not be able to live up to expectations in an ego deflating way ... hope not ... but egos do have a way of protecting themselves

I'm going to be honest...I still think he will be our coach...Call me crazy...call me unattached to reality...I have been here since the beginning and I have drawn my own conclusion.

There is too much evidence to support Gruden accepting.

He still has not denied anything...Either he is the biggest troll in the history of trolldom or he wants it...I think its the latter. I think he honestly loves the University and I think he wants to coach us to relativity again.

I want us to compete again. I want Alabama to fear coming to Neyland again. I want the losses to Florida to be an afterthought. I want everybody (media included) to say "dang, don't mess with the Orange and White this year." I believe we all want that and I believe Gruden is the man to help bring that fire and passion back to The Hill.

It will be before Friday whoever it is. We have a bunch of recruits visiting this weekend.
