Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVII

Morning guys.

Gruden has to be #1. There was too much smoke about him before the Shiano incident for him not to be in play.

Hopefully if there was damage caused by what Currie did then it can be fixed.

Miles would be solid, way better than Butch. And his teams always had an identity. They were tough, physical teams.

And he still has that fire to coach, which I don't think Phil did after he was let go.

If Miles can hire good assistants then I would stick around and watch to see what happens.

I will squeal like a little girl at a Beiber concert the first time a fullback trots out on the field. Lol

I have mixed feelings about this.

I get it, but its also pretty arrogant. Part of me hopes Gruden does come and doesn't answer his phone when Cade calls him.

Whatever, I don't really care.

Agree. It is arrogant. Reirregardless We shouldn't choose the coach based on one class or kid.

To me this lines up with the early Gruden talk. A VFL staff. This is very positive news IMO.

I agree. Then one of his followers made a comment about 10@10...

So there's that, only one head guy referenced at that figure. You dont pay Cut that kinda money

IF...its Gruden and Tee, how long would Gruden want to coach? And...how long would Tee be willing to wait? If Gruden is successful, then Tee might be in the co-pilots seat a long time waiting for the UT head coach job.

This.. Also who calls the plays...I thought Gruden likes to call the plays. IF he is calling plays then Tee is just a glorified recruiter...No?

Also I don't think Phil is Micromanaging the new HC staff but I do think he probably is stipulating the x% should be Tennessee blood.

This argument has a flip side.
If Gruden is crushing it ( and wants to stay) then UT would be prosperous and Tee would be more valuable as part of our success. Therefore he is more marketable for better hires.
It’s a win win for Tee.

The new hot boards still show the same old candidates. Miles, Tee, Morris, and a slew of other coordinators. So what make you guys think that Gruden is actually a possibility at this point? Not being negative just looking for info that could boost my meter up from 0%, where it has been since last Sunday's debacle.

Thanks for not being condescending. We feel the way we do because Jon nor his Agent haven't said no. I personally believe the story that we went after him last week and would have had him if was not for the ensuing clusterf***. I feel he was on board but our AD wasn't.

I think our new AD will let the good boosters throw their wallets at Jon and give him whatever he wants. Jon would fit the narrative of "historical time in our program".

I also believe not hiring Gruden (((((unless he says no :loco:))))) would result in riots and another firing of someone.....or everyone.

There are many people who will read my post and think I'm a; sheep/moron/idiot/gullible/troglodyte/imbecile/dolt/brain dead basement dweller/a** hat/buffoon/mosquito d*** or low-life loony.

Let me assure you, I am all those things.:) It is still Jon Gruden to the mf'n Hill.

To make it clear, I want both Gruden and Tee, but if Gruden crushes it and wants to stay a long time, then I would fear losing Tee to another school. I think Tee will be successful wherever he goes. That being said, time for church. Keep the blue side up.:)

1. Fans stopped Schiano hire.
2. Fans got Currie fired.
3. Fans got Fulmer hired as AD.
4. Fans want JG.

It would be professional suicide to NOT make the call. Cannot force him to say yes, but Phil needs to be able to say he reached out to him to see if there was an interest.

SOON!

We would have 70% less posts to read without the cryptic ones.

80% fewer without the guitar/best rock vocalist posts.

90% fewer without the where is the best barbq posts.

What fun would that be?

You forgot about discussions on Scotch, Bourbon, and where you are from.

This only works if it is used for official university business, otherwise property taxes will have to be paid.

Found the article from a few weeks ago.

It was a private foundation that bought the house from the Sabans (while allowing them to continue to live in it for the rest of their lives, even beyond retirement if they wish).

The foundation paid off the taxes owed this year by the Sabans, but will not have to pay any property taxes in the future, as they are a non-profit organization.

The foundation, a nonprofit group founded in 2003, provides money for scholarships, endows coaching positions and has provided money for the renovation or construction of athletic facilities.

So it seems from that article iamadoc was closest to right: sounds like boosters are behind the organization.

We live rent free in his head.

We live rent free in everyone's head.

You know what I think pisses them off? We stood up for ourselves.

Never ever never has a fanbase said, we are tired of mediocrity.

Nebraska fans haven't stood up.

Do you think Michigan fans would have if Harbaugh hadn't been the hire? No, they would have taken it.

Florida fans wouldn't do it. I still think they settled with Mullen. He will be good with a flash of great every now and then but that's about it.

Tennessee people are a strong, independent lot for the most part. We support the school and team, to the point of being the most profitable school in the SEC, even though we gave been at one of our lowest points in history.

It's different being a vol fan. It's almost a birthright.

Like I said, if they screw this hire up I just won't watch but I could NEVER cheer for another team. It's in my DNA...
