I have only been able to get caught up now. What a day. I started a new job today, and was getting phone bombed by events shifting from Currie firing, to possibly his 2nd in command taking over, to omg its going to be Phil. It was a relief to me as I was having an awesome first day in a position I have always wanted.
Then I got to thinking. My first son was born on the day of the Florida game 2012 when Dooley was HC. His first outfit was a power T onesie with orange power T mittens on his hands. The first picture I have of my wife holding him is with his tiny hand raised in the air with that power T covering it. My 2nd son will now be born with Phil at the helm, and my 1st won't remember these last 5 years. And I will put that baby boy in his first Tennessee outfit with pride once again. I didn't worry about who they would grow up to be a fan of, that's their choice and I would never force them to be a fan of something they didn't want. But hopefully, there will be more reason for them to be fans in their own right now. And hopefully they can grow up with their own memories of Sugar Bowls, Miracles at South Bend, carrying goal posts down Cumberland, and leading the band in Tuscaloosa. Maybe, just maybe they can keep a ratty old newspaper someday that says Tennessee is #1. The power seems to have shifted for now, and a lot of hope seems to be on the horizon. With Phil's announcement it seems we have an answer as to who won the power booster's war that we have been told was raging in the background. I haven't seen this many Tennessee fans truly excited about the future in so long. It feels different now. Something I haven't felt in over a decade. True and actual hope for the new season.
Down the Field ladies and gents. GBO!
