Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVI

If this happens he is even lower than nothing to me and ruined himself in the eyes of all Tennessee fans. Why on earth he thought he needed to align himself with Haslam is beyond me. It’s disgraceful.

Speculation on my part however you have to have someone on that side of the camp Keep your friends close but your enemies closer this whole thing was toxic

Ok engineer. Hope you are correct. Maybe we can still take back this program.

Me too. Makes all failed interviews make sense. Especially if you think about how they intentionally made brohm say no by changing his deal and firing Currie in the middle of the leach deal. Makes it look like Gruden hasn't been a done deal since last Sunday..

I guess I’ll take it back until the AD is named. See what comes out and what doesent.

My uninformed guess:

Regarding the "Blackburn has other things going on" stuff, my tin hat indicates that him being Gruden's compliance guy (as previously grumored) is a firm requirement of Gruden. He trusts Blackburn to keep him out of trouble with the NCAA and without him it's no deal. Now Jon may make an exception for Blackburn to take the AD job, but that's still to be negotiated.

I would think that Phil Fulmer could assist here.

Want to know whether we really have had a "voice" in this change of direction?

Listen to the new AD when introduced this afternoon.

Listen for one specific statement.

...

"Voices" can be as crude and basic as a primal roar, a haunting scream in the night.

Or they can be incredibly communicative, detailed, intricate in the amount of information they pass along.

Which have we been? Have we simply been the primal roar that brought change without fully being understood? Or has the UT administration truly heard our desires, in detail?

...

When the new AD takes the podium, his comments may include words to this effect: "my first order of business in the search for a new head football coach is to contact Jon Gruden and bring him aboard, or force him to say no."

It's simple.

If he says that, he truly heard what we were saying. If he does not, all he heard was our scream in the night.

We'll know in a few hours.

Chancellor Davenport:

The fans want Fulmer as Interim AD…ok with permanent…another option is Charles Davis.

Hire Jon Gruden as Coach and Vol Nation will fill Neyland for Orange/White Game and make sufficient donations to pay for Coach Gruden/Staff’s Salary. Will take a little marketing but all you need to do is ask the Vol Nation to help and we will respond!

A Vol Fan

I just walked past Brent Hubbs sitting in the Thompson Boling Arena cafeteria. I thought about engaging him, but he was on the phone. Not that he would have given me anything anyway.

Mechanical, student here at UT

You better get to work on something special for Gruden's entrance, preferably something complex and large, similar to a float, with a king's chair and fire and fireworks and candy shooting out of cannons and Gruden chucky dolls strewn about with a chucky t-shirts being flung from catapults.

It must be impressive!
