I certainly don’t claim to know for a fact however it has been stated here and other places that several members of the BOT are very close to the Haslams

Yeah, that would not surprise me at all. Since, you know, the Governor's office is how they got onto the BoT in the first place.

From the BoT's web site: "The 26-member board is comprised of both five ex officio and 21 appointed members. Appointed seats include one voting and one nonvoting faculty, one voting and one nonvoting student, and 17 congressional district and county representatives."

So that's 24 voting members of the board (one of the two students and one of the two faculty members don't get a vote).

Four of the 24 voting members got onto the Board by virtue of their main jobs. That's four who need not have any uncommon loyalty to the Chairman/Governor.

The other 20 are the trick. Half of them, give or take, would have to be convinced to vote out the guy who got them onto the Board. Tough order, that.

But Atlanta Vol never said, "hey, this is gonna be easy."

I wonder if this is the approach they're taking to wrest power away from the Haslams?

According to the By-Laws, the only people who can kick out the Chairman of the Board (currently Governor Haslam) are...the members of the Board. Not to impeach him as Governor, just to remove him as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

They'd have to collectively rise up against him.

Maybe that's part of what the crew like Atlanta Vol have been working on...and why they need our fan-based public pressure to stay high to help them convince sitting board members to join in.

Just a guess.

I don't know that AV and other boosters have that kind of relationship, nor would they want it. Their best punch is the threat of guaranteed funds. Put the signed check on the table contingent upon all requests granted, or UT refuses the requests and the money walks.

Haslam's biggest enemy is us and our reach, and the buying power of other diamond boosters. The sum of the whole is greater than the individual parts.

I have been saying for a while and I still repeat .... there are only a few coaches let that have not told us NO yet

1. Jon Gruden
2. Les Miles
3. Lane Kiffin
4. Tee Martin

Soon Currie will run out of names and will be forced to talk to one of these lol

Big "rewards" paid out in millions to good whistleblowers would sink this mf'r quicker than a row boat with that black gunk I see on TV.

I think he’s doing a pretty decent job blowing a hole in his boat all by himself. Didn’t Bill say Jimmy had nothing to do with Schiano earlier this week?

A Haslam family feud would be EPIC!

We do like to eat our own! Especially when you deal with 2 spoiled and entitled classified idiots who've never had to fight a good fight on their own without a lot of help from big dad. Wouldn't know what to do with themselves if they had to actually lift their fingers and do it themselves, between themselves.

That's a really good question.

Some of the board memberships come with other positions: for instance, the Governor of the State of Tennessee and President of the University are both ex officio voting members. Others are selected, such as two faculty members and two university students. All the rest are appointed.

But selected and appointed by whom? The Governor's office?

I couldn't find the answer to that question anywhere in the by-laws of the BoT: Bylaws – UT Board of Trustees

Anyone know?

(sorry if answer already posted, I'm probably about 2 pages behind catching up)

No, thanks for the info. I was not able to find anything myself. I always try before asking a dumb question. Everyone has a boss, or is appointed by someone. If it's daddy, well there you have it. He's Teflon.

Honestly, this whole insane process is lacking only that one missing ingredient to make it perfect.

Can you even conceive of Trump weighing in on this? My mind is reeling at the thought!

Well, the UT administration probably is the only organization in the world that is more dysfunctional than the U.S. Congress.

Maybe trying to make Sumlin seem better? Like a power 5 school wants him and give him a reason to get more money at whatever school he goes to. As in "I need at least this, because tennessee offered me that" sort of thing. They're making CFB better one coach at a time while waiting on Gruden or whoever and actually looking like their interviewing people. It's the perfect coverup.

Who are a few TN state reps? I’d like to tweet a couple of them and ask them if this is true. If they tell me it’s true, I’ll send it on over to Rucker, Price, Brice, and Hubbs.

I know it's true. I brought this info the other night. The person that I know he called is not a state legislator . I would say the person that I know is more important than that

Beav. Your timing may be off. I feel it’s in our best interest to get through the weekend. That doesn’t mean we wait to reach out to the candidates.

Also, you won’t have to wait to hear from me or anyone else on here. Part of our success, with this fight, has been ensuring this search continues to be more public.

Currie contacted 3 coaches yesterday...today we have only heard names and speculation...what is he doing now?

Squints, what you're saying doesn't get Haslam's hand off the wheel. It is only a short-term win (new AD, restarted coaching search without interference).

That doesn't make the problem go away, it just shoves it aside temporarily.

Weren't Paul Vol and Atlanta Vol (who may be the same guy, but you didn't hear me say that) and that gang insinuate they were going for a more permanent solution?

Actually, I liked the idea of a Twitter fight with Trump myself.

Talk about epic.

It would be epic and would bring much lulz. But I think I read that the Haslams contributed to Trump's inauguration party. Unfortunately, I think Trump might side with Jimmy on this. But we digress ...

Fight on VN.
