Dr. DiPietro and Chancellor Davenport,
I hope this email is well-received, but most of all, I hope the detailed concerns are addressed in an effort with UT, its students, alumni and fans in the forefront. My alma mater is at a very pivotal turning point. The financial health and prosperity of the University of Tennessee are in your hands. I will not contribute to the University through donations, ticket purchases, or buying UT merchandise until this is satisfactorily resolved, beginning with the dismissal of John Currie and contemporaneous removal of Jim Haslam's influence.
Our once proud institution is crumbling beneath the pressure of a power monger. Abraham Lincoln once said, "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power. The University has relinquished all their rights and associated duties to its citizens and beyond, and have, whether intentionally or not, given control to a name. The name you should be concerned with is the one you work for, The University of Tennessee. If you can't uphold your duties, then you, too, should bear the punishment for gross negligence and incompetence.
I am a Volunteer, not a Haslam, not a Currie, not a Davenport nor a DiPietro. I encourage you to consider the financial repercussions of your actions/inactions.
Respectfully,
