Official Jon Gruden Thread XLV

Busy day today. Won’t be able to be on here much but I wanted to at least say this, cohesion is starting to breakdown now that it’s calmed down a little. I fear we’re going to slowly go back to the way it was before. In order for us to win this struggle, we’re going to have to keep giving it to the AD. Turn it up!!!

Keep up the hard work! I got my basketball tickets and sign ready for tonight!

I'm to the point, that I believe JG doesn't think he can get the job done at UT. The fans have raised the expectations to a level that most coaches could not meet. Let me be clear, being mediocre is not acceptable. IMO, things said or hinted at by Gruden, were all for show and nothing more. That being said, Currie, Davenport, Haslam and lets throw in Pietro must go. I will continue to root for the Vols, but from afar.

Morning update from Hubbs

"We are hearing the rumors on Jeff Brohm. That is making its round in some coaching circles, but we have no confirmation on anything. But that rumor is out there, seems to be growing.

Others say Chad Morris is in it. Morris is definitely interested. Morris has a loose tie to Tennessee in former defensive line coach Dan Brooks.

Kevin Steele has significant ties to Tennessee as well.

Those are the three names we are circling around this morning"

This is silly. The fanbase gave Butch Jones an absolute pass for 3 years. We are not that hard to satisfy.

I agree. The problem is most Tennessee fans have to work during the day when all this stuff is happening and we can't participate as much we would like to.

This.
Ive actually wondered if Currie had waited til Monday on Shiano if the movement against him would have actually taken off like it did. But most people were off on Sunday and had time to commit.

I believe Erik Ainge said he would gather up a few old VFL players and they would coach for the interim... I’m kind of thinking that might be fun to watch at this point.

I’d take that before Morris or that guy from NC State.

Okay, since Monday I have sent 57 emails to DiPietro and the Media relations lady. Have not received one response. I never really expected to. I'm done. Until someone has some balls to go public with everything that has happened with Gruden/boosters/Haslam/Currie, there's nothing more I can do in this.

My entire family cancelled our season tickets, that we had for 40+ years, when they hired Dooley. Stopped donating too (it was only 5 figures, but it was something to us). My uncle that was an all-sec lineman has stopped donating and participating in anything UT related since Dooley as well. None of us have attended a game since Kiffin left.

I've had it. There really is no more my family and I can do to voice our displeasure. We've been doing it for 10 years.

Give us something concrete to support and get behind.

Again, someone needs to have the balls to go public.

Please continue to fight, VolNation. My recent email can be seen below.
______________________________________
Dr. DiPietro and Chancellor Davenport,

I hope this email is well-received, but most of all, I hope the detailed concerns are addressed in an effort with UT, its students, alumni and fans in the forefront. My alma mater is at a very pivotal turning point. The financial health and prosperity of the University of Tennessee are in your hands. I will not contribute to the University through donations, ticket purchases, or buying UT merchandise until this is satisfactorily resolved, beginning with the dismissal of John Currie and contemporaneous removal of Jim Haslam's influence.

Our once proud institution is crumbling beneath the pressure of a power monger. Abraham Lincoln once said, "“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.” The University has relinquished all their rights and associated duties to its citizens and beyond, and have, whether intentionally or not, given control to a name. The name you should be concerned with is the one you work for, The University of Tennessee. If you can't uphold your duties, then you, too, should bear the punishment for gross negligence and incompetence.

I am a Volunteer, not a Haslam, not a Currie, not a Davenport nor a DiPietro. I encourage you to consider the financial repercussions of your actions/inactions.

Respectfully,

Like buzzards circling a dead carcass.

Getting ready to resend my emails again.

In order for this grassroots campaign to have any proverbial teeth though, we need a leader....like a big name booster. I don’t see that happening. That is where I fear we will fall short. It’s hard to rally the troops without a general.

I know this would never happen but I could get behind all this.

Mostly because I think Brooks is a bad ass

And he’s retired last I heard

SIAP: I heard an unconfirmed rumor that Haslam gave majority ownership of the Browns to his wife because of the released recordings yesterday in case he is busted. Supposedly you can't own an NFL team if you have a felon.

Can anyone confirm this?

Can someone explain why Gruden is any less of an option today than a week ago?

Did he tell us no?

Why are we even entertaining anyone else until this man, who has obviously dropped hints that he is interested, has been publicly offered and turned us down.

Being turned down by Gundy is embarrassing.
Being turned down by Gruden is not.

Last night everyone was talking about Gruden on the Golic show? Did he shoot us down?

He was on the Golic and wingo show earlier, just to talk about pro football. The hosts announced that they were going to talk to Jon Gruden about college and pro football... Then they only talked about pro football. And Jon Gruden was really sounding tired and kind of rambled a little bit. He just didn't sound like himself.. I just listened to it on replay maybe two minutes ago.

It's just more avoidance from him.

Agreed, but I've been doing this for quite some time. How do you get the masses to follow......herein lies the quandary.

If they hire a Bing McGoogle or Northeastern South Dakota State Ned McFartweed, the many including this writer are done..me after 30 plus years..If it is someone who will be a "Hey let's just see what he can do" coach I am done. Without a proven winner..Scr&w them..No donation ..money on tix gear trips etc..Consumers have choices And 30 years has given me the right to choose my critical mass point..I am sure I am not alone

For the life of me... I just cannot figure out why in the world Jon Gruden is being so silent. It would take 30 seconds of his time. I think that he has been gracious enough to us the times before, so why not now? I don't understand.
