So the narrative of the power struggle between Haslam and all the other big boosters, is it real or not? Is it really the big boosters vs the mid level guys? As far as i know the fans are the only ones with the b*lls to say outloud where we stand so i have no clue?

Its obvious Haslam is still in control. Currie is still the AD, Bev is still the Chanc, and Gundy was just a show. "We tried but he said no, so heres some dude that sucks."

If there really is a large group of powerful boosters that are ready to take UT back then why are they not saying anything publicly at all? At least leaking info to the national press about why the fans did the right thing and point to what is really happening on the Hill. Something to help cool the flames?

The fans have been getting ripped across the country, UT is being laughed at by all our rivals, we are being told to not give up and keep fighting but theres nothing concreate to say exactly what we are fighting for and who is on our side and who isnt. If Currie is Haslams yes man like has been indicated if he takes the fall, Haslam will just put another yes man in his place. Then what have we accomplished?

Ive sent emails and made calls and im ready to keep carrying the fight but i want to know where the lines are drawn and who is on what side but not from cryptic info on message boards or twitter. I want at least some small showing of Charlie Ergan(sp?) Or Anderson or somebody so i know im not fanning the flames for the wrong reasons.

I agree. The fans are being crucified in the media. We need these other boosters to stand up publically and Lead. The fans will follow because we are all fed up with this administration.

As a football school we don’t have time to push out Currie and Haslam, we miss on this recruiting class and we’re at Vandy level for a while. I get the whole it’s not about a winning coach as much as it is about getting the admin issues corrected but let’s be honest here, we go 3-9 and the majority of our “fans” will disappear. Gruden isn’t coming here after that **** show Sunday so we can give that up just find a decent coach and let’s go try and salvage a football program that can be great again in time

There is no coach that will come here that can salvage our class. We will be lucky to finish with a to 30 40 class. This isn't about a coach, it's about an AD and those who really pull the strings. Until they are gone no coach who will improve the program comes. Better to let it languish do real change happens than window dress it and try to make it look good.... Time to actually lay the groundwork to make it good again.

This! This! Exactly this!

Currie had three days in the Bahamas to decide who he wanted according to the Vol Nugs tweet....even assuming that is true. Did he not vet Schiano? It’s no shocker Kelly went to UCLA. Or Mullen to FL. Besides, any decent businessman will tell you, if you have a great candidate who wants the job and you want him, hire him now. Don’t sit on it while he interviews elsewhere. He is an idiot.

No, the only scenario anything fits in is if it was Schiano all along. Currie did nothing to manage fan expectations and could have shut down Gruden at the butch conference. They thought Schiano was a slam dunk. Honestly, it is beyond inept. It’s so embarrassing.

Completely pathetic, makes me feel like I am even capable of running for a AD job

Yea, I wasn't saying hire Lane. I guess I should have been more descriptive.

It would be nice to have someone with confidence that he can beat whoever is on top and is not afraid to make that known.

Heh, yeah man, I wasn't criticizing your post. Just making fun of Lane.

Not sure that's confidence so much as cockiness. The difference is, confidence has reason behind it. Cockiness is just gums flapping.

No, I see the passion. That’s not what I’m saying. We have done our part. Now it’s up to the people who can do something to do it. And it doesn’t look like they have the time to do it so Haslams and Currie will just trot out a no name and BECAUSE of our fans passion, they will forgive and go to games. Look, I hope I’m completely wrong but we embraced Dooley and Jones. We will eventually embrace whoever. That’s why this moment is so critical. Because if we can’t move them out now, we never will.

We all saw the power of VolNation on Sunday. We could do it again. The problem is that we don't have the ammo to go after Currie, the Athletic Department, and Haslam and make it a national story.

There are those on this site that supposedly do, but refuse to give us all of the details that are necessary. If we had the scoop on the Gruden deal (Dunwoody/boosters that wanted him/MOU that he supposedly signed/etc.) AND the internal power struggle with the boosters, we could expose the dysfunction that is the UT athletic department and cause change to actually happen. Again, we saw that in action on Sunday.

At this point, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND "insiders" who refuse to give up their sources or their information. We could force change...we could make the University of Tennessee great again. Right now, all we can do is make calls and send emails. Frustrating.

There is 1 coach who could win here and would take this job. If he were to come and admit he's sorry for how he left things and wants to make things whole again, in time all wounds would heal.
We would take a beating initially but that would pass and I really lot believe it's our best move. Can not bring in a mcgoogle special! Jmo

Kiffin told Clay T this morning that he hasn't gotten a call from TN yet. Sexton floated his name to UT and was told that they aren't interested. Currie's ego won't let him hire LK even if it's the best option left on the table. Unbelievable.

Just had an associate in the AD call me. I still owe $10k for my pledge for the remaining of the 2017 year. He also asked me if I wanted to pledge more. I kindly told him no, and I also told him that I would not be making the $10k either until something changed in the AD and our football program. He then stated that I was already committed to making the pledge and that he was just simply reminding me. I told him to please tell Currie, that I was simply reminding him that I didn't sign anything on the additional pledge and to remind him his days were numbered. He said ok, and would make a note.

I’ll be totally honest. We are gonna set our program back another 5 years with this hire. It’s sad and disgusting.

The only realistic candidate left, that can produce a winning product, is Kiffin.

I have said it before but there are far too many in this fan base that look at a Saturday afternoon at Neyland as nothing more than a social event. The product on the field is a secondary backdrop to their party. I guarantee you if they go ahead with the renovations there would be over 95,000 people show up just to say they were there. This would probably happen even if they hired my dumb ass as head coach.

Doyle to the hill?

Can't get there at work. Transcript? Cliffs notes?
The caller became a fan of the Vols after watching the Sugarvols (1985? 1985 Tennessee Volunteers football team - Wikipedia). The very next day, he lost his vision. He is now 40 with two young kids and is re-evaluating his support of the UT program. One of the first things he mentions is that Currie should be fired for the debacle we're currently witnessing, and the hosts agree.

It obviously means a lot to him as he gets emotional several times over the course of his call. As the call comes to an end, you can hear how hurt he is by what the program that means so much to him is currently going through. Sad, yet powerful to listen to.

Breaks my heart that I'm in the same boat. I'll have to dig up what I wrote on the subject later this afternoon when I've got a free minute, now that I think about it.

And he has proven himself right...by leaving the SEC (less than 2 months after that prediction) so he doesn't have to play Saban any more.

Here, let me emulate Lane: "Nick Saban has beaten me for the last time, too!" [just as true]

Heh, talk is cheap. Talk from Lane Kiffin is even cheaper.

I won't keep repeating myself cause I hate it when others do. But, I'm not gonna be "done" with Tennessee football no matter what happens. I may not be as excited and interested as I usually am, but I'm not going anywhere.

I can't stand Kiffin, but if I reach down to that place inside of me, where things exist that I don't talk about at parties, he "excites" more than the any of the others that are being mentioned right now that might be realistic.

Again, only because of where we are ..
Today, I would be fine with Miles for stability. Tee with a good staff. Then last, Kiffin.

I don't think better names than that are realistic. If they are, GREAT!

Anyway, this is just my opinion, obviously no one that matters is listening to me so what I think doesn't mean anything at all.

Well instead of waiting on a call from the AD asking about the donations and renewals why don't we start something where we all as fans just call them and tell them we won't be renewing or donating any money going forward. Bombard them with calls and save them from wondering.

I'm no superbooster, but I'll put my money where my mouth is. And that's not to support a lackluster product or a disaster.

Good job and you're not the only one. Hopefully with enough of us pulling back donations, something might get done. It's going to take some big boys though as well.

True. Definitely cocky. He was the closest to backing it up though. haha.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but if Jon Gruden didn't decide to coach here this time around, he will never, ever coach at Tennessee. Quite frankly, I think the Grumors are detrimental to the fan base and, given that I think we're going to end up with Butch Jones 2.0 thanks to the Schiano F up and will be coach hunting again in the near future, I hope the fan base has finally learned their lesson with regard to Grumors. The "sources" are probably crap, and even if they are reliable and we do talk to Gruden, we've seen that it's just to placate the fan base. He is not coming to Tennessee.
