So the narrative of the power struggle between Haslam and all the other big boosters, is it real or not? Is it really the big boosters vs the mid level guys? As far as i know the fans are the only ones with the b*lls to say outloud where we stand so i have no clue?
Its obvious Haslam is still in control. Currie is still the AD, Bev is still the Chanc, and Gundy was just a show. "We tried but he said no, so heres some dude that sucks."
If there really is a large group of powerful boosters that are ready to take UT back then why are they not saying anything publicly at all? At least leaking info to the national press about why the fans did the right thing and point to what is really happening on the Hill. Something to help cool the flames?
The fans have been getting ripped across the country, UT is being laughed at by all our rivals, we are being told to not give up and keep fighting but theres nothing concreate to say exactly what we are fighting for and who is on our side and who isnt. If Currie is Haslams yes man like has been indicated if he takes the fall, Haslam will just put another yes man in his place. Then what have we accomplished?
Ive sent emails and made calls and im ready to keep carrying the fight but i want to know where the lines are drawn and who is on what side but not from cryptic info on message boards or twitter. I want at least some small showing of Charlie Ergan(sp?) Or Anderson or somebody so i know im not fanning the flames for the wrong reasons.
I agree. The fans are being crucified in the media. We need these other boosters to stand up publically and Lead. The fans will follow because we are all fed up with this administration.
As a football school we dont have time to push out Currie and Haslam, we miss on this recruiting class and were at Vandy level for a while. I get the whole its not about a winning coach as much as it is about getting the admin issues corrected but lets be honest here, we go 3-9 and the majority of our fans will disappear. Gruden isnt coming here after that **** show Sunday so we can give that up just find a decent coach and lets go try and salvage a football program that can be great again in time
This! This! Exactly this!
Currie had three days in the Bahamas to decide who he wanted according to the Vol Nugs tweet....even assuming that is true. Did he not vet Schiano? Its no shocker Kelly went to UCLA. Or Mullen to FL. Besides, any decent businessman will tell you, if you have a great candidate who wants the job and you want him, hire him now. Dont sit on it while he interviews elsewhere. He is an idiot.
No, the only scenario anything fits in is if it was Schiano all along. Currie did nothing to manage fan expectations and could have shut down Gruden at the butch conference. They thought Schiano was a slam dunk. Honestly, it is beyond inept. Its so embarrassing.
Yea, I wasn't saying hire Lane. I guess I should have been more descriptive.
It would be nice to have someone with confidence that he can beat whoever is on top and is not afraid to make that known.
No, I see the passion. Thats not what Im saying. We have done our part. Now its up to the people who can do something to do it. And it doesnt look like they have the time to do it so Haslams and Currie will just trot out a no name and BECAUSE of our fans passion, they will forgive and go to games. Look, I hope Im completely wrong but we embraced Dooley and Jones. We will eventually embrace whoever. Thats why this moment is so critical. Because if we cant move them out now, we never will.
There is 1 coach who could win here and would take this job. If he were to come and admit he's sorry for how he left things and wants to make things whole again, in time all wounds would heal.
We would take a beating initially but that would pass and I really lot believe it's our best move. Can not bring in a mcgoogle special! Jmo
Just had an associate in the AD call me. I still owe $10k for my pledge for the remaining of the 2017 year. He also asked me if I wanted to pledge more. I kindly told him no, and I also told him that I would not be making the $10k either until something changed in the AD and our football program. He then stated that I was already committed to making the pledge and that he was just simply reminding me. I told him to please tell Currie, that I was simply reminding him that I didn't sign anything on the additional pledge and to remind him his days were numbered. He said ok, and would make a note.
I have said it before but there are far too many in this fan base that look at a Saturday afternoon at Neyland as nothing more than a social event. The product on the field is a secondary backdrop to their party. I guarantee you if they go ahead with the renovations there would be over 95,000 people show up just to say they were there. This would probably happen even if they hired my dumb ass as head coach.
The caller became a fan of the Vols after watching the Sugarvols (1985? 1985 Tennessee Volunteers football team - Wikipedia). The very next day, he lost his vision. He is now 40 with two young kids and is re-evaluating his support of the UT program. One of the first things he mentions is that Currie should be fired for the debacle we're currently witnessing, and the hosts agree. Can't get there at work. Transcript? Cliffs notes?
And he has proven himself right...by leaving the SEC (less than 2 months after that prediction) so he doesn't have to play Saban any more.
Here, let me emulate Lane: "Nick Saban has beaten me for the last time, too!" [just as true]
Heh, talk is cheap. Talk from Lane Kiffin is even cheaper.
