I get that. But it is upsetting that the moment you “don’t believe” and express that, your immediately vilified I’m here. Maybe it’s time I see myself out. I just figured all opinions were welcome, as has been the case as long as you weren’t insulting others.

Fairly certain they are all happy as pigs in sh*t with Taggart, they obviously was wanting Pruitt as DC not HC..... I am also an FSU fan and Pruitt wasn't exactly "loved" when he was there.


I feel like Pruitt is a lackluster hire that Fulmer makes so that he can stick him under his thumb.

That's why you wont see a Gruden, Miles, or even a Leach. They wont fit under his thumb.

I did get some conflicting info late last night. It's a possibility but IMO it is still Pruitt.

Definitely feels that way with Pruitt. Just told someone...time will tell with Pruitt, but it doesn't make me run to the vol shop or call the tix office for season tix.

Kind of feel like I'm in the majority with that. Even if Tee comes.

I was told Gruden said no by one person I talked to. The other said he has no info on Gruden.

The mystery candidate is a possibility. I received some info that the hire was "really really good." That came from a player so you have to take perspective into account. I wouldn't consider Pruitt "really really good" but they might if he recruited them and made a connection during that process.

I agree to all of this, however, there hasnt been anything reported from the university regarding Gruden. This has all been done by boosters and "certain group of fan" if it even has. There is no substantial evidence that says it has, just pure speculation and pieces being put together. With that in mind, what is there for the university to come out and squash if there is nothing concrete from their side that this is even in play?

Ive been on the Gruden train since 2012 but there isnt anything from the university that says we have ever offered. Would they not want us to know they tried their best to land the great white whale if that was the case to appease the fan base?

I agree with what you say, so logically to me, that points to a few options:

1. They are still working on it and one or both sides demand anonymity.
2. There were talks, a no was given, and the University fears the backlash of not offering enough, etc. My response to that would be the bargaining level that would bring if exposed.
3. The most adamant fans were used by a few boosters to overthrow another in hopes of gaining control. The Gruden name was the bait used to get their attention. The more time goes on, the more this scenario makes sense.
4. All the Gruden talk was a troll job.

I'm not sure which one is true, or if any of them are true. I would like to know straight up if people were using the name for their own gains or reasons, or if UT actually made a run at him.

I didn’t realize I was expressing it the wrong way. If I’ve offended you, I apologize. I am not outside of this thread talking crap about anyone in other threads. I was here all aboard the Gruden train, and have come to believe that ship has sailed and am continuing in this thread as I have from the start.

You haven't offended me. I just don't need or want someone else telling me who I should want and who I shouldn't want. I will be a fan of the Vols no matter who is the head coach, as well 99% of the people on this board. Everyone here wants what's best for the program. Until they name a coach, why not wish for the best you see fit?

I've said from the beginning that I'm cautiously optimistic about Gruden because I felt let down in '12 when it didn't happen. That doesn't mean I'm cashing in now. All you truly have is hope. You can't control who they hire so why not hope for the best you can hope for? If you have cashed in, why crap on someone else's hope?

That's what I'm getting at.

this suggests that a player knows who it is...which suggests the players know...which would suggest that we'd all know...but we don't

I never said team meeting, I said players know. Then I came back and clarified I don't know how many know. Three different players sent text saying we hired somebody.
