Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

He's about the only one not named Gruden that could truly unite the majority of this fanbase.

I think he would unite the players and VFLs as well. I wasn't for it originally, but I would be now because I think he would make it his mission to save the program. That includes recruiting, which he's really good at.

Now JG dad adding fuel to the fire on Twitter. Basically said we (fans) opened Pandoras Box and if players don’t like the new hire, but the fans do, players will protest. What an effin sxxx storm.

So? 4 wins? What exactly makes them feel like they have leverage?

Currie has 3 names on the top of his list now:
1) Gomer Pyle
2) Forrest Gump
3) Jerry Sandusky
i'm not sure if that's the correct order

Anytime something like this arises cause will be evaluated. So my answer is yes but I have not been told directly by anyone at this time.

The thing now is do not let up. Write, call, text, tweet. If you know anyone booster, player, BOT, legislators, make it your mission to help. This does not need to stop with Currie.

For those that are worried about the national media making us look bad. Stiffen your back and do what’s right. Stand up for Tennessee and don’t be a wilting violet in the face of a bunch of wind bags. Many people give lip service to giving your all for Tennessee and now is your chance. Don’t go quietly or be shouted down.

Done.

Short story yes.

So is he still willing? Is anyone with ANY authority speaking with him? He was my first choice, then Petersen, then John Harbaugh.

I can't help but believe the good list / top men / comments were nothing more than wishful thinking at this point. Boosters may have been pursuing a stellar hire, but I don't believe for a second that UT was. Stellar hires can dictate terms, all they want (and have ever wanted at UT) is a lackey "yes man" that might get them to a bowl.

Not sure I think this is true, but short version...

Boosters thought Currie was signing Gruden.

But Currie signs Schiano.

Boosters think it's getting announced Tuesday, tomorrow.

Friday Currie wants Neyland clean fast after game on Saturday.

Sunday he's set to announce Schiano. Chit hits the fan.

No way it gets botched that fast by only fans.

Something happened, cause it's still happening. Lol.

Yeah, someone knew something, and doesn't like Currie.

As much as I agree with this post, just stop please. I admire the creativity and the way you were able to get us even a little bit of hype, but you're clearly not an insider like you claim to be
He's busy doing what he does best so if I may....you have no freakin clue how much an asset he has been and continues to be. Granted, he is only one of the players but he IS one of the important players. Of course, time will tell which side(hate to say that) has been full of themselves....Ride or Die !!

Safe to assume the Petersen talk was yet another VN wet dream? Who did we actually try to hire before going dumpster diving for Schiano?

I think the plan was set a while ago, one search for show and one secret one for go.

In other words:

"Let 'em eat cake"

You forgot to add "and bend the knee" to the Haslams.

He can unite the players and former players, but I don't think for a second he is ready to compete with Bama, Georgia, Florida, etc in the SEC. Unproven feel-good hire is all it will be.

Our list and Currie's list is obviously not the same.

Bev may not have signed the MOU, but it was only because she hadn't gotten around to it yet, not because of any hesitation on the actual hire. She's FOS just like Currie is. Don't let her try to play hero here.

I’ll be happy to let her play hero if she fires Currie and disavows Haslam.
