As for actual coaching ability, it's hard to compare Gruden vs Petersen since neither have ever been in the other's realm (NFL vs CFB).

I've wondered how long it would Peterson to develop a recruiting base given his lack of ties. Don't doubt that he could but it would take time. Gruden would be an instant boost in recruiting.

I disagree. I believe a Sunday announcement makes it even more likely it is Gruden. Him and Kelly are the only high profiles that haven't been coaching, and have had the opportunity to speak with UT without needing permission from another AD. I think we can rule Kelly out.
If this has been a done deal like people have been speculating, then I believe a Sunday announcement just further solidifies these claims.

Not saying he's a bad coach. I'm simply saying I don't see the hype. Chip Kelly was 10x the coach at Oregon that Petersen has been at Washington.

Petersen beat Kelly while Kelly was at Oregon and Petersen was at freaking Boise.

I don't know why y'all are jumping on me for questioning the dogma around here that's he some elite coach. This is honestly the first time I've heard of him getting talked like this. I've never seen him listed as a top coach in the game. I've seen David Shaw get more hype.

Streaming or not, contracts will be in place and they still pay the best. Sportscenter & PtI would be greatly missed too, along with the tradition that MNF is. And let's not forget SECN.

ESPN is such a staple of american society, it would be odd without it tbh. I doubt it would be for the better.
