The name Gruden alone can and will bring recruits and put backsides in the seats. I think both Petersen and Gruden have the right tools and drive to compete at the highest levels in the SEC.
As for actual coaching ability, it's hard to compare Gruden vs Petersen since neither have ever been in the other's realm (NFL vs CFB).
I'm still at a Gruden, Petersen and "WTF just happened, it's me, not you" list.
I find it unlikely it's Gruden if it's announced on Sunday.
Boise State never played anyone. And what he did at a lower level is beside the point. He's been a power 5 coach for 4 years now at a major program. Who cares what he did at Boise. What he's doing right now in Washington is what matters. And I'm not seeing much to be impressed by.
His teams were bad his first two years and although they have good records on paper the last 2 years, they've played very weak schedules. I can't think of a single marquee victory for Washington the last 2 years.
Not saying he's a bad coach. I'm simply saying I don't see the hype. Chip Kelly was 10x the coach at Oregon that Petersen has been at Washington.
Is Petersen related to everyone here?
I don't know why y'all are jumping on me for questioning the dogma around here that's he some elite coach. This is honestly the first time I've heard of him getting talked like this. I've never seen him listed as a top coach in the game. I've seen David Shaw get more hype.
I'm simply not getting where all this Petersen is elite talk is coming from. It's the first time I've heard it.
Yep, you will get streaming sports cheaper and more variety and without all the political crap anywhere you want ..... what do they do besides distribute product that someone else produces ? Not trying to be trite, just looking ahead a bit and noticing things aren't the way they used to be
I disagree. I believe a Sunday announcement makes it even more likely it is Gruden. Him and Kelly are the only high profiles that haven't been coaching, and have had the opportunity to speak with UT without needing permission from another AD. I think we can rule Kelly out.
If this has been a done deal like people have been speculating, then I believe a Sunday announcement just further solidifies these claims.
