First time poster here, and I have to admit that I am a recent bama grad. Applying to school, UT gave me nothing but Alabama gave me full ride and that 10k stipend for room and board. Hard to pass up. Needless to say I made my presence as a die hard tennessee fan known on that campus for the past 4 years. They didn’t take too kindly too a UT fan taking up a seat in their student section wearing orange every week. As hard as it is to say, the bama does have phenomenal facilities and education. That being said.... SOON!!!

You acquitted yourself well while in captivity. We can ask no more of ourselves than that. :salute:

One of my best friends in high school was a huge Tennessee fan like me. Lots of family history within the university, etc. She got a full ride to swim at bama and took it. It was going to cost her family next to nothing for her to go to Tennessee, but for her it was the principal of getting the scholarship that made the difference.

I'm still hurt by this betrayal 21 years later.

Did she fully convert....football wise?

Wow...I’d hug you right now if we were standing in line together. That takes balls...

She did. Many years later she brought her husband and 3 kids all in houndstooth (literally she had some sort of houndstooth fingernail covering on) to my kids birthday party. She introduced me to her husband and said, "we were the most OBNOXIOUS Tennessee fans together in high school."

Excuse me, houndstooth fingernails?

I do think we are constitutionally different from the others. I believe that we are the ones who remember that we are one of the most storied programs in college football. We remember a time when there was swagger involved with being a Tennessee fan. We remember a time when, if we were down by 4 and Peyton got the ball back on his own 20 with a minute twenty seconds left, you had full confidence he could drive it those 80 yards. We are the ones who believe that a coach of the highest caliber, the single most sought after coach of our time not only would come here, but that the University of Tennessee would be the job he'd pick and want over every other single job on the planet. We are the ones who continue to believe in the strength of our history to propel us forward.

Stupid mullenites can't dream big. They can't imagine a life better than the one they already have. I genuinely feel sorry for them.

This right here is awesome:good!::good!::good!:

This, this is A MISSION STATEMENT! Needs to be at the top of Max’s reference post!

I’m putting my Tennessee Orange on by God and will be loud and proud today!

You should be very proud! That is not an easy task!

Thanks, Terry. :hi:

I feel mildly successful in my abject defeat, since I can get both daughters to wear something orange on Saturdays and special days, even on days they have classes.

Trolling Vanderbilt through your children is probably not the most mentally healthy of things to do, but I enjoy it nonetheless. :)

My parents both graduated from that Crimson school down south, which makes my father’s smug looks every time they have a successful season unbearable. What’s worse is he’s actually nice about Tennessee’a string of bad hires. He says things like “Tennessee being good makes college football better - I hope you make the right hire.”

He just smirks when I bring up Gruden. He was following the Calhoun’s incident. But I know he’s terrified of what Gruden could do to the balance of power in the SEC. I can’t deal with his niceness anymore; I need a coach that will mud stomp Bama into the ground.

I'm a third generation legacy, but want my kids at the best school that will pay them to be there.

Tuition costs ain't no joke.

This. If my kid got a athletic scholly to Bama, I'd be in the stands wearing Bama gear cheering for her. To do anything else would make you a crap parent.

Same here, both parents and brother went to UA.... Hell, I even went there to earn my MBA. My dad has always been cool about it though and UT is #2 for him. Vastly different from my mother and brother. My daughter goes to AU but she still wears her UT stuff around like it's nothing.

Grude morning...I made the mistake of venturing outside of this thread today. It is scary out there. Keep these going forever.

On the school deal...I live 30 min outside of Athens. If the hope scholarship still exists when my kids are making a decision I would be happy to see them at UGA. As much as I can't stand the school it is close to home, a good education, and potentially free. Hard to beat that.

McClintock is a great movie.

giphy.gif

I love John Wayne and Clint Eastwood as obvious by my name lol, There has been some Skuttlebutt in the todays world of remakes by Clint Eastwood before he retires from directing and producing movies to remake a couple of his best movies with his son in them which if any of yall know him looks identical to his dad at his age. I wouldn't mind to see one done. Maybe Good, Bad, and Ugly.

Yes to being in the stands cheering my heart out for my daughter , that’s a big No if you think my skin wouldn’t burst into flames if I put on bama gear ... there’s a line . I can promote my daughter without promoting said elephant school .
