I'm certainly not trying to throw cold water on this party, but what makes everyone think Gruden would be even a good college football coach.
It seems everyone has forgotten his BIGGEST flaw as a pro coach was his inability to remain patient with young players. He seemingly hated rookies.
I mentioned Gruden to a lifelong Bucs fan, and he horse-laughed at the idea of CJG working with a college freshman. Suggested there might be a murder.

Well...I'll take that over Butch not getting in his players face when they do something stupid. He is too nice to the players. Gruden at least would pull a Red Foreman and shove his foot up some asses when a player needs it. Also, that kind of discipline will help with penalites, and keep away premodonnas

Bucs fans have relayed the same to me.

Some people subscribe to the theory that just because Currie is not VISIBLY doing something, that means that he is doing nothing.

I do not subscribe to that theory at all. I think the more INVISIBLE he remains (while Rome is obviously burning to the ground), the more he is doing serious work behind the scenes.

This also is where I subscribe to Boro's theory. Butch will remain as coach until such time that Currie doesn't need him in that position anymore. He obviously will not be back next year. That would be professional suicide by Currie.

JMO.

This. Basilio is calling Currie out for being quiet and letting this program tank, that he's not going to stand by and let this program be ruined, he's going to speak up cause no one else is...blah, blah, blah.

When Butch didn't get his extension this Spring, I knew something was up. I completely believe the rumors about this being worked on for some time now.

There literally is no one on radio to listen to right now. Sports animal are nut huggers and this joker is stupid.

May do that for my Bday :). Like the Island Inn over on Sanibel and their restaurant. Used to go in July and Nov with timeshare in family back in 80's and 90's at South Seas. Ol Captain Als.was there .Bubble Room (still is I believe) We really like the Mad Hatter when we come down now..Great food

We loved the Bubble Room on Maitland (IIRC) when we lived down there. Went there often. Believe it's closed now. Went to the one in Captiva once. Believe it's the original?

No rational person can believe that Currie is just sitting back with his hands folded while Butch piles up one failure after another...while hoping that Butch will somehow pull a rabbit out of his hat and save the day. Currie is an experienced AD. There is just no way he is doing nothing.

Nice! We live in the Bonsack area of Roanoke just off 460... Lynchburg is really taking off with Liberty growing, I actually caught a flight out of there a couple of weeks ago to Louisville because Roanoke was booked.

Good deal, Roanoke is nice - I have spent a lot of time there mostly because my high school played several Roanoke teams. Also had several friends with property on Smith Mountain Lake, so we'd go up there all the time. I'm in Murfreesboro now, so I fly in and out of Lynchburg a couple times a year, always through Charlotte of course. My immediate family is still there and loving it.

But I had a quiet conversation on here last night in plain sight where I learned that his resignation was official earlier this week to make it possible for the negotiations to take place. Part of the deal was coaching Sat.

Sometimes it feels like no one listens to me.

Good grief butch is not gonna finish the season get real folks. That recruiting class is gonna fall faster than tiger woods career.
1. If you let butch finish the season but know that he won't be there next year, how are you gonna salvage the recruits from abandoning ship? Are you gonna tell those recruits who were are gonna hire before we let butch go? That would be malpractice;there's no way they keep there mouth shut.
2. Butch wants to be able to coach again...if he stays here throughout the season it's gonna make his resume look even worse considering he's going to lose another game to a lower shelf team.
I know this has been mentioned before but d*** guys currie isnt this stupid

I'm not a guy who has any info on anything having to do with his royal Grudeness....BUT I have a feeling if all of this goes the way 'we' want, you'll see a different sort of HC in Gruden than we've been used to. I think he'll CEO; he'll be the closer in recruiting; he'll approve and implement film study, player evaluations, and game plan; and most likely will monitor player development at a high level as one would asses potential NFL talent (with MAYBE exceptions on QB development since he LOVES that piece)....

I.E. I don't see Gruden micro-managing the kids on a daily basis. He will hire a staff he trusts to do that. Which will help keep him out of prison...:)
