If this is in fact that case, I take comfort in the fact that we at least gave a good coach a legit shot. It's a good sign that we aren't going to settle for some mid major wannabe.

I sometimes wish the UTAD leaded like our national government. I can't tell who the next coach of Tennessee will be, but I know what Trump reads when he's on the toilet. The secrecy of all this is kind of silly.

Ok... here goes, I'm a newbie poster that's hung around for years reading to get info. I'm not claiming to know anyone. But I do know business negotiations. If they truly negotiated with him in 2012, which I think they did, they know what it would take to bring him here now. The timing is better all the way around now and I don't believe they would have even started negotiations this time around unless they were prepared to meet his demands from 2012 and add more to the pot. I also think they wouldn't let Butch be in this deep amount of doo doo unless they had their guy and a pretty good backup plan on the hook. Basically the UTAD puppets aren't taking up for Butch. Honestly this should be a hire that you have to make... it's a home run or honestly you ride it out with Butch. So IMHO... you offer the moon and stars to Gruden, Kelly, Stoops, or Peterson in that order or you keep Butch Jones.

I personally think they have their guy... and we are just waiting to hear about it.

As much as I hate it, this is my thinking. Go big or go home. You try to work things out with the devil you know, and if you still can't make it work you hope the homerun is there next time around.
