Official Jon Gruden Thread XIX

Just finished watching the Predators game (won again btw) and thought I'd check out the Gruden thread only to find someone has rolled our yard.

"I know why he's saying this tonight" makes me think this is all smokescreen. I sound like a broken record here but if we went this far with gruden this time and supposedly moved all barrers out the way, then we got the deal done, but maybe the insiders told people to leak false information since butch is still coach....thats just my opinion though

No need to parse my words...I have no hidden agenda in what I said. I'll clarify...I know what he believes has happened, and why he believes those who told him. That's all I meant. Maybe it is smokescreen, I hope it is, but it is not smoke of my making.

And I consult with the AmLaw 100. Totally agree . Some of these descriptions of negotiations and high level recruitment are hysterical . My sense is there was a channel of communication established . Interest to keep a channel open expressed back nothing more till protocol allows . Just my two cents..

This. We know enough about Currie thus far (coaching changes and Lady Vols name) to know that he runs a tight ship. We know that he has apparently made his peace with Coach Fulmer. We know that he did not give CBJ an extension. We know that Peyton is a major player in UT Athletics now. We know that Jon Gruden was in Knoxville last weekend, and depending on which historical interview you choose to hang your hat on, he either is or is not interested in the UT job. That much, we know.

The rest, and you can claim to be golf buddies, bridge partners, church members, butt buddies, psychic channelers, fishing pals, Facebook friends, septic tank pumpers, or whatever that qualifies you as an "insider"...is pure, unadulterated speculation, unsubstantiated rumors, wishful thinking, and/or outright bulls**t. Throw enough crap out there, and some of it will probably be close enough to the truth for you to stick out your chest and claim you "knew it from the start". While there might be some here who are connected to the AD, or have a connection to someone who is, it borders on childish ignorance to actually believe that you, me, Wes Rucker, or some guy who went to Kindergarten with Peyton Manning really know what's taking place behind closed doors. Wake up, VN...you're being played, and badly, by people who have nothing better to do than come here and stir up the natives.

Negotiations that are "really close" to a deal don't break down that quick unless you're dealing with Iran or North Korea, in which case the negotiations were nothing more than a stalling tactic from the beginning. So I don't buy that part either.

I have to believe that if Jon Gruden was never a serious candidate for the job, he would have said something by now to defuse the whole circus. Safe to say he knows what's going on around here. But he hasn't, so...maybe he is the top target. If he is, and he really wants the job...and Currie and the folks who are going to have to write the checks really want him, then it will get done. Simple as that.

Good Lord, it's like the Seal Exhibit at SeaWorld. A thousand hungry mouths climbing all over one another, honking for someone, anyone, to throw them a damn fish.

(deep breath) So...Go Vols.

I, of course, have never been involved in such massive negotions, and I'm not saying I think this happens with Gruden. But wouldn't it be kind of standard practice for him to rebuff the the first offer?

I think its funny how folks want to say they know something but don't say what they know. Its a message board and people are hiding behind user names. Post the information. This is getting silly.

I asked that no one post for a couple of hours. I will let it slide this time but in the future please follow instructions. Back to page 230 to get caught up.

I too wish we could break from 4-6 each afternoon. It would also deter trolls.

Welp you can do small jumps, until it is official. Of course has to be posted as a state job. However, anyone that thinks a coach isn't already locked before those postings go up is naive and new to the game. P.S. be careful for the impact on the knees with the jumps

Is this Dr Hamilton from Nashville

I think MIT is might be our AD with the info he’s bringing. That guy seems to be connected like crazy. Hope he’s right. Still think we just let this play out, especially through the weekend seeing as it seems Butch could be done after the game. Think there lots of misinformation right now.

Would things be as exciting with a "official Mike bobo thread"

Equipped with flight numbers and all?

I wonder if Gruden ever visits the Grumor dome here @ VN? Just for defacation and restrained laughter.

Other option out there.
