as long as there is more than 85000 people in the stands Jones will be here . The first Sat that only 70000 show up for a game he will be fired . Its a business and as long as they are making money with jones he will be here.

Has he ever stated Nebraska is his dream job? Just curious if anyone has ever asked him if his dream is to be the HC of his alma mater, or if it's just an assumption?

Last MNF game is Christmas night. To me, I let Butch go Sunday and allow an interim coach (Hoke) to finish out the year. Hopefully they can make this thing with Gruden happen and announce he will be UT’s football coach in 2018 at that same time as this, or shortly after. He could finish out his gig at ESPN as “coach in waiting” so to speak. Recruits want to know the future of the program, so the sooner the better. This would be ideal in a perfect world.

Nebraska is a bigger mess than Tennessee, in fact Tennessee is one bad hire away from becoming Nebraska. They hurt themselves recruiting wise by leaving the Big 12 and I don't think Frost wants any part of the mess in Lincoln. You lock him up with a rather large buyout, if he leaves make someone pay dearly

Frost is prolly their #1 choice ... hot coaching candidate, young, successful as a player there, yada yada.

Is it Craig Bohl, former North Dakota St coach with multiple FCS titles that was a Nebraska alum? They might also consider him. He's 59.

Can someone tell me what happened since last night around 5 pm? I had to work late and got back on around midnight, and it seems like all hell had broken loose. :blink:

Because even if he was successful here, which there is nothing that proves he would be, we would constantly be looking over our shoulders waiting for nebraska to make a move for him. Plus im still salty after that beatdown we were handed peytons last year. UT is a stepping stone job for someone like scott frost imo.

Well if butch is fired this weeked then we most likely already have our hire. Is it gruden? Who knows but I've stated all along Currie is not gonna fire butch until he has a replacement ready, and if he has only been talking to gruden as if rn then that could mean good news for us

Stepping stone to Nebraska? Nebraska is a terrible program now and sealed their fate when the moved out of the Big 12.

If they keep saying a big hire then it's either Gruden, Patterson, Stoops, or Peterson. However if they need to make the hire quickly because of signing period then it will be someone not coaching at this point. I'm still saying Gruden has agreed to be head coach and once Butch is let go Sunday then things will be announced within next 2 weeks

The spaces between those statements would be the reason for the panic. A lot of stuff goes on between those spaces...stuff that takes time.

Can confirm that when CBJ and UT part ways, there will be an announcement of an interim coach and a search committee

Expect to hear names in the weeks following this search. Tennessee will have to interview multiple rules to cover HR bases.

Shouldn’t change outcomes behind the scenes of parties are in place.

He's a Nebraska guy. That would play a huge part. Just my opinion
