Official Jon Gruden Thread XIX

The more I'm seeing, the more I'm thinking this has been going on since before the season started. If I'm Currie, I sit down at my new desk in Feb, put my favorite pen next to my pad of paper, then call Peyton to ask for his support. My next call is to Gruden's agent. Anyone watching the second half of last season knew it was over. I'd say they were hoping to wait until the end of the season but things have changed.

All of this is true. One individual told me that was one of the main reasons Fulmer was brought in as well.

Amends were made, and it helped put all the power players on the same page.

Ainge just said, he knows Gruden will never come, he knows it will never happen and it's lost its luster.

Lol so VolNugs was the one that stated Jon Gruden turned down the job and then came back two hours later stated this:
VOL NUGS @VOLnugs
Big Beefe (Internet) 2/2 : Any reports that Jon turned them down last night are NOT coming from the AD.

Volnugs didn't say that. He just reports what is said on TOS. It was HBomb who said Gruden turned it down.

I could see 2 scenarios with the firing/resignation of Butch playing out.

1. After the Bammer game sunday/Monday and let the interim finish season which is the most popular opinion

2. After Kentucky win or lose and let the interim coach his first game against a relatively easier opponent.

Personally I'm leaning more towards 2 but hoping for 1.

Is he pretty credible? Like I said my optimism is way down but I'm not gonna make a judgement until Boro or DTO comes out with this news

It's been posted before, but Vol Nugs isn't a "source." Vol Nugs posts things that are said on here, TOS, and other sites.

Ainge also said yesterday for his listeners to name one coach who would come here better than Butch Jones, the guy can't and shouldn't be taken for real

Thanks for clarifying..I don't have a VQ or 247 account so until I hear it coming from somebody credible here I'm gonna wait and see. Still don't like our chances as of rn

The most interesting piece to this, as far as I'm concerned, is the Phil as interim rumor. No way can Phil be named interim without simultaneously announcing Gruden.

Finally caught up and still waiting. Waiting for more Grumors knowing I'm not going to hear much until after the bama game. May start hearing something officially after that (hopefully, JMO ). Wild night last night.

Good morning everybody.

You know what's lost its luster? Erik Ainge. He's so generic in his comments. Makes so many excuses for Butch. I can't listen to him.

I'm sorry, but EA doesn't make excuses for Butch. He is being realistic. He's familiar with this situation. Bash me if you will, but I think he gives a great insight to this process as well as breaking down the games.

GBO!!!
