Strong is really lighting up recruiting this year - at 73rd nationally! All his 3 star recruits must be diamonds in the rough!

I am not saying that Strong is my top candidate, but it is a little different selling Louisville compared to selling UT. I would not make that a deciding factor. I like Fedora but question his recruiting. I was told that Fedora was Foley's second choice after Muschamp. I think UF gets it. Strong could recruit well at UT.

Dude, he's in the Big East. Even sucky SEC teams recruit better than the best big east teams.

That's exactly it, Strong is going to walk in and say, "I really set the big east a flame with my 7-6 seasons and one 10-2 with loses to the mighty syrc. and Uconn". He will be laughed at as the Ole piss coach walks in and takes the kid with him.

He is the only reporter that has said that Gruden wasn't just a pipe dream. He could be right, or he could be a crackpot.

A little research would tell you he's not a crackpot. He's old school newspaper writer that doesn't report something as fact unless he has the source telling him it's fact. If he states an opinion, you know it's an opinion.

This is where "writing checks their asses couldn't cash" comes in imo. If UT could do everything I think these boosters told Gruden it could, then he would be here. According to LWS and Skeeter that I trust now more than ever before, NO university could agree to the things Gruden wanted. I cannot imagine the boosters thinking "done deal" without leading him to believe things that weren't necessarily true.

Again, personally I think they should either donate or not donate and leave the personnel decisions to those in place to make those decisions. Having an opinion is one thing, but this went way further than simply boosters having an opinion I think.

Who do you think really brought in Saban, B Kelly, Meyer, Mac Brown, I can tell you the AD's take credit but the boosters do the real work and more importantly foot the bill. Who pays for UT's stadium upgrades, the new Football offices, the practice facility, the locker rooms, etc. Those things are done by large capital contributions not the $3,000 - $10,000 some people pay.

The guy certainly gained a ton of respect in my eyes the way he handled himself.

I never said he was wrong, all I said was he could be as he is pretty much the only guy reporting on it. If he is right Hart needs a moving van in front of his mansion that is being paid for off of Neyland's hard work.

Spot on. Hart isn't Hamilton, and he isn't about to be run rough shod over by anyone, Haslem included. I don't care what the so-called Gruden insiders say, cause their talking outta their ass.

I understand that the AD will make his own decision but why wasn't the Gruden stuff dismissed early if Hart didn't want to offer. We all know that some sort of contact was made several weeks ago. Hart could have ended it quickly but he did not. It is all just a circus, and I don't know what to believe. If Hart's ego got in the way, then shame on him. If not, then he needs to make what he thinks is the best hire.

We have to have one of the craziest fan bases in NCAA. No matter the name thrown out there the majority will spit on it. I posted this in the FF because they deserved it.

People on this board drive me crazy.

Mention Gruden, "No way he would win", "He's a 500 coach".

Mention Stoops, "No thank you, he loses one game every year."

Mention Fisher, "He's a ACC coach, doesn't translate to the SEC".

If some of y'all had diamond shoes you would bi**h about them being too tight.

No reason to mention these coaches, they have all said they are happy where they are. <sarcasm>

But Hargis never said it was over. He said the sticking point was assistant pay. That's where it was at the time of his article. Hart has to negotiate this, does he not?

I think Hart took Gruden's demands back to the boosters and made a case against hiring him and the boosters agreed with Hart. Case over.

Do you guys see what happening here? We UT fans are going in every which direction on the coaching hire. We won't be unified in any coach, except Gurden. Hart has screwed this up more than any AD, including Hammy.

I still don't believe Hart would have screwed it up unless the boosters agreed with Hart.

The guy stated on numerous radio shows for a couple of days that his reputation is all he has and in his 23 years never wrote a story that wasn't backed by sources with legit information. You would think that if he were wrong someone would have called up one of those radio shows to share a story or two he published that wasn't true. I've yet to hear anyone say a bad thing about his reputation. I believe what he reported was 100% fact based on that.

You can lay a little bit of blame at the money men's feet if that's how you feel. Hart didn't drive this bus with Gruden, he is a passenger. Don't be naive.

Then Hart should be fired

I talked to Steve Phillips from WBIR and he told me that UT had not recruited Todd Howells boy what so ever and that kid just broke the all time receiving record in the State. Now why would UT/Dooley not have recruited that kid. I guess this goes alone with what was said about Dooley not even returning calls from local coaches or recruiting kids from Tennessee.

Not to be mean but the reason is Howell's lack of speed. I
believe his 40 time is in the mid 5's. He has even been to a speed coach but did not help. I love the kid and he is a heck of a player but no SEC school has even really given him a look. Speed is not everything but.....

Because some of the fans, not all or even the majority, worked themselves into a frenzy for Gruden, Hart screwed up by not making him the coach? I didn't know that's how things worked.

I have a suspicion that volnation fan-base is a very minute part of the TN majority and most of what we have read/experienced here has gone mostly unnoticed by the vast majority.

...unfortunately
