Maybe, its only a potential scenario.

We would have to fly a great deal farther to get to your planet. I never pretended to know what is going on I only shared what I heard from people that are always close to those things.

I have never said this but at this point anyone that cannot see you are the coattail rider that is so FOS making the proclamations you do. I have thought you were FOS since your last screen name.

What was his last screen name?

I'm not going anywhere until the mods shut this thread down or we hire another coach. This just doesn't feel right. Too many weird circumstances and statements from 'sources'.

Also, our alternatives are so unpalatable, I want to ride this train until she stops...

Alright....for most of us you have to start to quesion the sanity here, the delusion level and what is real anymore. People keep throwng out "boosters" but not specifically which ones. Or that Peyton "supports this" without mentioning how they would even know he was involved. The one thing that I am certain of, is even if there was a deal, alot of crazy info on these threads is BS, both for and against it having ever happened....What do we really know and why? Not just because some mystery handle name on here said so.....

You have hit on something that has bothered me from the beginning. I have voiced this opinion in other Gruden threads but I will say it again.

How do all of these big money people, who got their big money from being good in business dealings, not know when and how to keep their mouth shut? Business dealings don't typically leak like this, and this is a HUGE business dealing. Usually those people who are close to sensitive situations, don't tell someone that they barely know, detailed information. That seems to be how many of our so-called insiders have their information. It just doesn't sit well with me. Couple that with how many times we have heard the same information (Shannon, Lovie Smith, you name it).

Truth be told, I totally bought in against my best judgment. Truth be told, I want so bad to buy in again but my head is telling me there is no way...

It still bothers me that Jon Gruden who has said he loves UT would answer the question on Mike and Mike so tersely. Today no statement from him either and his agent downright insulted us. Gruden isn't a stupid man. Would he really burn this many bridges in East Tennessee? Wouldn't he more likely come out and say something like "I am very flattered that the place that gave me my start would want me to be their next head coach. This is a huge honor to me and my family. I love East Tennessee and the University of Tennessee however I do not feel this job is right for me at this time. Thank you."

Annnnnnd we'd still go "SMOKESCREEN!! Y'all hear the inflection in his voice when he said East Tennessee? He's comin' y'all! Me plums are tinglin'!"

Well nobody knows anything for certain. But here are some fair deductions for you:

1) Gruden had real interest in Tennesssee. We know this because of a bazillion reports, the most credible report is Hargis' report.

2) Lemonte's assertions that UT was in a 'fantasy world' was complete BS - see #1. Gruden was interested.

3) The knoxville media is a joke - and unfortunately that includes our good friend, Mr. Hubbs. Almost every member, except Hargis, backtracked over their own claims multiple times.

4) This is not dead until UT hires a coach. There is a pattern of misdirection like we have seen in every major coaching hire - most notably Saban and Meyer. While this feels like a longshot at this point, what we have experienced this week is normal when compared to those two hirings.

One thing that hasn't made sense through all of this

Jon Gruden and more importantly his wife has more respect for UT I would think than to say

"Y'all were dreaming" as a response

Even AD less than hopeful sources said that they heard that Cindy would rather he took the Vols job...

Nothing and because we aren't involved.

Well we know some things....we know Hargis had 3 sources, is staking a long career on sticking by it, and that one of them was someone he's known for 20+ years.....they haven't pulled it, so TFP editors clearly beleive him on sources..........and if they didn't it'd be yanked. that's a start.....so the fantasyland by lemonte makes no sense... Mayb it never got as far as grumors on here, but it got far enough for Hargis to lay it on the line, and still stick by it.

I have said all alonjg i was at 100% until Hart or Gruden say NO.... then I would be at 80%

So that is where I am.....80% it's Gruden!
I'm with you. I was all-in & didn't expect a press conference today but also didn't expect this ****-storm! My son-in-law asked me about 4:00 what I thought, I said it all looked a little murky, I but couldn't tell if people (agent, AD) were just purposely trying to muddy the water or if it was really a cesspool! Told him I wasn't as confident as I was last night, but guessed I was about 85% + Gruden! The things that made me believe the insiders I trust (SBV, Boro, OV & really a couple of new names that sounded plausible without trying too hard), are the things that make me still think it's part of a big plan - I know, sounds crazy & I only say that to my family and anonymously on this board!l :shhh:

Liper.... Do you care to elaborate on how Hart "WAS/IS part of the problem"?

I understand and fully believe that Hart did/does not want to bring Gruden in despite the big $$$$ booster's wishes. Am I correct on this point?

Do you know whether the big $$$$ players will try to fix the Gruden deal or is it past the point of no return? If there is no salvage possible, will there be ramifications on Hart?

I'd like to know the answers myself Patrick. Still asking.

It makes sense because we scared him away. Tennessee fans crossed the line. Period. I wouldn't want to live in Knoxvegas and coach UT after having myself and my family slandered and misrepresented by the school's fans.

Seriously, some of those rumors might have been true, but some of the stuff that focused around his family and personal life were downright fake and mildy disturbing (Webb Acceptance Ltr., Brown's ownership interest, etc.)

I don't blame Gruden; but I also think we can find a coach who can exceed even Gruden's expectations while coming for consideration of much less $ value. I don't know who that coach is, but I am confident that Dave Hart is diligently doing his homework and will make the best hire he can given all the circumstances.

Have Faith. Go Vols. **** bama

You dont honestly think Gruden was scared off by the fanbase do you? Charlie Strong has me more excited the more i read about him.

I kind of feel the same way.

Forgive my typos tonight.....and blame kentucky product.... I am drinking out of state to start....but will get to the local stuff shortly..

You are correct Oldvol75. Thats why most universities including UT pay coaching buyouts on a monthly basis even if they have the money on hand to pay it in full. Usually if the fired coach gets a new position the monthly payment is reduced or voided all together based on the their new salary. CDD's buyout was donated by boosters but is being paid out monthly.

I thought he just had a non compete clause in his contract or something, and he couldn't coach until buyout is paid or forfeit the remainder? We don't even know for sure he had 48 months starting in Jan 2009 or if it did, what day in Dec is the last payment, etc pure speculation IMO... I doubt its happening but I still believe there's a chance, but small... simply because I believe a lot doesn't add up.

I really do think the TB thing is in play here more than we think. If that is the case, I can understand wanting to wait that out, just don't apprecaite anyone taking a crap shot at my team like Lamonte did...

Certainly not Jefferson County public record. That couldn't be the most credible source.

Simply being a fan who follows obsessively on VN, none of today's event changes the likelihood in my mind. I'm going to bed tonight at the same level as last night. It's all fishy and I refuse to believe Hart is the most incompetent AD in history.
