It still bothers me that Jon Gruden who has said he loves UT would answer the question on Mike and Mike so tersely. Today no statement from him either and his agent downright insulted us. Gruden isn't a stupid man. Would he really burn this many bridges in East Tennessee? Wouldn't he more likely come out and say something like "I am very flattered that the place that gave me my start would want me to be their next head coach. This is a huge honor to me and my family. I love East Tennessee and the University of Tennessee however I do not feel this job is right for me at this time. Thank you."

if the timeline was dec 15th, that would explain a lot

1) they probably didnt think it'd leak this early, hence the ridiculous statements from everyone involved - deny, and deny 110%. They don't have to kill it just a day or two, but rather a week or two. Smells like Saban's situation.

2) It wouldn't surprise me if Grude's contract was backloaded. I have no industry insight here - but I can see there being a big sum of his buyout being on the backend instead of equal installments... OR those equal installments being spread out on an annual/quarterly basis vs. a monthly basis like Dooltabbys

3) It would explain Hart's super slow pacing on this search. If he knew his 99% gruden wasn't done until december 15th.... why get the rumors associated with travel/interviews starting right out the gate? Makes sense that he planned to 'be in the office all week' last week.

On #3 - Hart's only excuse for super slow pacing would be that they needed time to plan the search and who to target. That excuse is not plausible because I know for a fact Athletic Directors are expected to have a contingency plan in their drawer of not only how to execute the next search, but probably the top 10 targets that would be pursued. In other words, they are expected to be ready to execute the next search at a moments notice. Hart's silence and appearance of slow movement are the biggest clue to me that very few if any know what's really going on.

Alright....for most of us you have to start to quesion the sanity here, the delusion level and what is real anymore. People keep throwng out "boosters" but not specifically which ones. Or that Peyton "supports this" without mentioning how they would even know he was involved. The one thing that I am certain of, is even if there was a deal, alot of crazy info on these threads is BS, both for and against it having ever happened....What do we really know and why? Not just because some mystery handle name on here said so.....

I think Liper is onto the scent. All of this came apart last night right about the time the TFP breaking the news happened. Almost seems like the hand was forced and it got out of control. Then it had to be put down until the right time. I just can not reconcile why it had to be brought back under control so aggressively. That is the piece I am missing.

...and not just last night. At least three times in the last week or so it looked ready to break and the next morning Hyams and the other minions trotted out and shot them down.

Honestly, I'd just be speculating like everyone else. I simply don't know because I haven't heard much since last night, aside from the cryptic references to Hart being hard to deal with.
