Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

Does everyone here believe that - at a minimum - the Gruden family is a friend of UT?

If so, wouldn't Gruden deny interest something like this:

"Thanks UT, but I love ESPN/NFL. But I tell you what, every coach in America should consider that job because it's a GREAT job."

Why would Gruden - a friend of UT - send out his agent to say that we lived in a fantasy world???

Makes no sense.

It makes sense because we scared him away. Tennessee fans crossed the line. Period. I wouldn't want to live in Knoxvegas and coach UT after having myself and my family slandered and misrepresented by the school's fans.

Seriously, some of those rumors might have been true, but some of the stuff that focused around his family and personal life were downright fake and mildy disturbing (Webb Acceptance Ltr., Brown's ownership interest, etc.)

I don't blame Gruden; but I also think we can find a coach who can exceed even Gruden's expectations while coming for consideration of much less $ value. I don't know who that coach is, but I am confident that Dave Hart is diligently doing his homework and will make the best hire he can given all the circumstances.

Have Faith. Go Vols. **** bama

What you heard today is not a rumor, an important distinction.

If you believe anything you heard today I just do not know what to tell you.

Do you really believe GRudens agent that no negotiations had taken place? or have you heard other things.

This sounds like me to be part of the plan from the beginning.
Now Hart has to do his job and his part in the process.

bcarter, slice, OV, and the rest of you guys:

Please don't feel guilty.

Anyone getting pissy either enjoyed the ride just as much as I did or are just being jerks because they can.

I appreciate the news and insight over the past few weeks - it's been fun!

I'd love to keep riding the coaster until something is settled and definitely not giving up!

Hell, if we don't get Gruden.... I'm almost positive we're gonna run into another 3-5 years of mediocrity. There just isn't a great #2 choice.

Jesus. Please stop. Just ignore me. Not making any prognostications. Just having a conversation then you act like a b_itch.

Do/did you have legit sources or have you been riding coat tails? I don't remember anything of you from Gruden I, maybe you just have AD info, again, I'm not trying to attack you I just don't understand when you apparently became "OG"

Bcarter is a straight up Vol fan and sir I agree with you 100% on your post.

Thanks. HopVol is about the only one still being an *******.

Gman, I could send him some pics from the lake that would blow his mind huh. Making it up as I go lol. I reported it as I went, and info changes. He is just another miserable person that derives his joy from tearing others down.

I think this is what broke my heart the most. That his agent, supposedly, speaking on his behalf would say such derogatory things about us as fans and UT. It hurts to think that a man who was given his first GA job here and has family with UT ties and professes to love UT would treat us that way. Its like getting a divorce and finding out that the ex's family never liked you. I have a hard time believing that Gruden would want that impression of him out there.

This... this is why I don't buy it.

Either JG has been trolling us for years including this spring, or he really does love UT and is remaining silent for a reason. You wouldn't let your agent say something about something you claimed to love so much unless, unless, unless you planned to make up for it by walking through the door at the end of the day.

The people I talked to and continue to talk to are very legit, but obviously their information wasn't.

Another case of "Big Booster Talk" that they couldn't deliver, not even close.

Maybe Cheek or Hart want to go the high school route and find a up and comer, probably just 2a or 3a coaches a big time high school coach may want to much money or control!!!:loco::lolabove:

I honestly believe in less than 250 days I will be on campus to watch Jon Gruden lead our Vols in his first Vol Walk as head coach!! GBO Just thinking about it gives me chills!!

I agree. This is what iced me, Lemonte today. For Gruden to allow him to do that says to me the guy loves Gruden and nothing else. I haven't heard one OG dispute/explain that dick move.

I understand, maybe the smoke screen was burning my eyes and now I can't see anything at all :hi:

UT fans can get bad. I am sure Dallas fans are pure class though. Philly fans have an impeccable reputation as well.

How can anyone believe there ever was a chance and not still believe there is one.

To all those like Mr. Orange and FAderoute You should expect more from your University. UT fans have been conditioned to just lay down or go home when something did not go there way. It is time for a change if you want UT to compete with The Alabama (I am happy with the Dolphins) Crimson Tide.

UT has been at the top and can get there again. Quit acting like losers and expect a win.

Damn I agree! No wonder the team quits! This place is just like Neyland stadium in the third quarter of a not so great game...I am happy to be with the Grudenites just for the resolve...even if we lose in the end...we stayed the whole game.

My two cents worth with a little information from someone that many here know:

The Gruden deal was all but signed, sealed and delivered however Hart screwed the proverbial pooch and wrecked the deal.

Gruden was never Hart's #1 choice rather he was the big $$$ boosters first choice.

As time passes (and if the Gruden hire can't be salvaged by those who were initially brokering the deal), information will come to light that will show to the VolNation that Hart did sour the Gruden deal.

Mark my words, this mega screw-up rests squarely on Hart's shoulders and hopefully he will be held accountable for it. Before you blast me, keep this in mind:

Hart approved the hire of Sal S and paid way too much for his services;

Hart hoped to rehabilitate Dooley and wanted to keep around up until the Vandy loss forced Dooley's dismissal (for this reason alone, Volunteers should question Hart's judgment and his abilities as an AD);

Hart allowed Dooley to run roughshod over administrative staff in the football offices and AD offices;

Hart looked the other way while the Doolster willfully violated certain AA practice rules;

Hart has never made a big-time hire as an AD.

I will close by saying that Hart has done little to endear himself to the Volunteer faithful nor has he even earned his "bones" here. There were some well qualified Tennessee alum who would have been very good candidates for the AD position. It will be very interesting to see when that position becomes available given the latest events - perhaps it will be sooner than later.

You can never trust what is reported. I think saban proved that but i doubt this is a smokescreen. It is plausiable that hart swoops in and saves the day later at least in appearance but i doubt this is an elaborate smokescreen.

Our fan base has developed a loser mentality, when things don't go our way, we just quit and accept failure.

It's time for something good to happen to this football program!

He never was or acted like he was. No one here that has read has ever mistook him for one. His sources may be better than even they thought when this is done.
