I'm not interested in naysayers' opinions who just want to doom and gloom, but to all of you serious Vols: I challenge you to go and read Dave Hart's press coference when he fired Dooley. Specifically, read his responses to questions. Tell me who he is describing, and who he is speaking to when describing the coach he intends on hiring. It is absolutely not Strong, Fedora, Patterson, Fisher, Golden, Smart. If you seriously think a man with his job and legacy on the line would go 3 weeks before even speaking to a candidate, you do not need to be scoping football rumors, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about or how this process works. I'm in, more so than yesterday

Let's think this through...

Rumors about money... obviously false. Hart's presser said so. Big money is doing this deal. Can't be true.

Rumors about control... plausible. Big money wins out and control goes to wherever it needs to go.

Rumors about no interest... not plausible. Silence from JG. Uncomfortable and quick dismissal on M&M. TFP author said on radio that JG wants to be coach.

Other alternatives... intentional delay. Plausible. Tampa Bay money. ESPN contract.

It just doesn't add up that it would be this close (after Knox media being completely in the dark, to meeting canceled (which means one would have been scheduled), to first time talking to agent.

Something still smells fishy.

I'd love to hear oldvol's insights going forward...

I hope none of the OGs feel like crap about this.

This has been, and hopefully will continue to be, some top notch entertainment.

For all I know, the OGs could all be friends who pulled off this as a master troll - I still enjoyed the process.

Just because lemonte and the worst sports media folk in the world downcasted Gruden doesn't mean it is dead by any means....

You guys jut don't know when to quit, do you?? I was all in until Gruden himself told UT to take his name out of consideration, per the Chicago trib article that has been linked all over the place here..... Time to find the guy that actually WANTS to be here....

I think this is what broke my heart the most. That his agent, supposedly, speaking on his behalf would say such derogatory things about us as fans and UT. It hurts to think that a man who was given his first GA job here and has family with UT ties and professes to love UT would treat us that way. Its like getting a divorce and finding out that the ex's family never liked you. I have a hard time believing that Gruden would want that impression of him out there.

Don't know you but you seem like a standup guy and other people seem to feel the same.

Just wanted to say I enjoyed it and appreciate your honesty throughout.

Being wrong doesn't make you a liar or an a**hole as so many have suggested.

Just know there are more of us out here who are not those people.

Thing is, rumors can take on a life of their own. I have been afraid of that. I have named my sources to several and some of us ended up having sources in common. I only posted about 10% of what I heard. I cannot speak for others, but as far as the people I know it appears they "Wrote a check their ass couldn't cash" and also started recognizing rumors as fact through repetition.

Thats my "guess" as to what happened. Just being as honest as I can. If I could name the people that have told me the things I posted you would have believed them too. Any of those I shared info privately with can attest to this.
