OP makes a great point though, seems like we'll need Slive to go to bat for us in dealing with the NCAA these next couple of years. It would be a major faux pas to announce the weekend of SEC CG, and we know Slive isn't too shy to slap us around publicly for it.

I left for an hour and a half and come back to a much better thread. It's great to see some actual convo going on. However, I also notice a lot of characters in here that we're calling people delusional are now back on the Gruden train. Welcome back and please choose your words more carefully next time. I do not believe he is implying anything quiet so drastic as firing Hart... I think he is saying Hart wants to keep his job..... Haslam wants Gruden, Haslam is Harts boss.....who do you think will win?

Actually Y4B latest post makes no sense with my idea. But mine was the whole idea from the beginning was the OG's thought we probably couldn't get this finalized till mid Dec for various reasons we have all heard. (tampa check, MNF, other contracts) Things started leaking to early and they had to put an end to end quickly for possible legal reasons concerning Gruden. So they wait a few weeks now and then all the sudden talks are revisited and things suddenly work out now as all 'issues' have been worked out.

That is my theory at this point. Who knows though

Oh well, The destiny of my Vols seems to continue to erode...maybe it's time to find another pastime. I've been a Vol for some 40 years and the last 7-8 years have been torture and it doesn't look like anything is going to change anytime in the near future....it is certainaly a sad time in UT history....maybe Hart goes back to Alabama his previous home....who knows

The new AD must be... Phillip MFing Fulmer, that sly bastard. No really, why? Is Hart making people mad or is it more along the lines of getting rid of HIS boss, the one we've had so much issue with, Cheek?

I very much doubt Bill Haslam is going to risk his political career by jumping into this mes.

I do agree that Jim Haslam would go to great lengths to get Gruden here, but I really think it's too late.

So they are hiring Jon Gruden as HC and AD?

I fancy myself smart, but clearly I am missing something.

You are not adding new information by pointing out that The Governor is Hart's boss.

"I am a conspiracy theorist with no ties. What if the deal is done with a MOU signed by Gruden and a few boosters. Leading the horse to water, they insist to Hart that they really want Gruden as the HC, make it happen. This, of course, is a test for Hart and Cheek to see how "much they will do" to make these wishes come about. As the boosters suspected, Cheek meets them about halfway, desperate to keep his job. And Hart closes in on negotiations, but tanks them and goes rogue from the boosters wishes.
Meanwhile, the smokescreens fly to throw everyone off the trail. This is to let the AD and Chancellor dig further holes to try to climb out of. This is why the AD's office and boosters info sometimes seem at odds and ebb and flow.
All the while here incomes a familiar name to the UT family and close POI to the boosters, Fulmer. Everyone assumes this is for HC, but they are positioning him for AD.
This culminates in Hart blowing the negotiations, the boosters cleaning house only leaving J Graham. From here the restructuring starts and with Fulmer as AD and Gruden as HC, with full cooperation from the new AD, Fulmer, and full Big Orange flavored staff, we start a beautiful new reign as champs of the NCAA.

I posted that in Gruden X. I really know nothing. But I looked at it from a different point of view. I still think this might be in play somewhat. While the players might not be the same, the game seems to be afoot. I think there might be a huge power struggle going on that results in some major changes.

They've had a rough day so let's see if I can help out here.

Gov Bill Haslam is top dog in the hiring/firing of an AD, for example.....Big Jim is his father and also the booster that has led the charge to bring Gruden to UT......Hart might just be pissing in his own cereal bowl by going against father Haslam...anybody who thinks the good ole boy network isn't alive and well in all this needs to wake up.

So how'd I do? lol
