I wanted Gruden as bad as anyone, but this is not true. We were a defense away from 8 wins this year under the worst coach in UT history. Everyone on the list is a major upgrade except Golden imo.

I don't care for any, but I agree Golden is the absolute worst.....

Yup..your right.. all we gotta do is beat Vandy next year and KY and we r better. But have u seen the rest of our schedule

Something will happen before the end of the week, and we will have a hire. Hart may have made a hire yesterday. It's time to wrap our minds around Strong, Fedora, Mora or Fisher. One of those four are most likely and imo in that order.

Do these coaches have buyouts at their current schools?

I didnt say it was a conspiracy. Stop putting words in people mouth. I just made a point. They are known to friends, it is quite possible hart is favoring fisher over gruden. Just speculation.

Or maybe Jon Gruden just doesn't want to coach here. I refuse to believe that the most important coaching decision this institution has ever seen is being composed on the good ole boy standard.

That wouldn't give him much time to recruit. You would think if the deal is on that he would want to get on recruiting asap.

It would obviously shorten the time he had to recruit. And I'm certainly no recruiting expert but I can't help but feel he'd bring in a really good class in Feburary, even in just a months time.

No mention of John Chavis? I know Les talked about him coming to Tennessee. (When Johnny comes marching home again..) I think he misses us. I know the old defensive players think he'd be a good coach, but he's untried. ( Would have been better than Dooley.)

No outsider knows exactly what went down with Gruden. I would like to see him be the vols coach, but only if he truly wishes to be. If he accepted the job just because of $$$ but truly wanted to do something else, no thanks. So, how many of you would want Gruden to be the coach regardless of cost? And by cost, I don't mean exclusively $$$ cost.

I really can't find a downside of Gruden being our coach. not happening IMO though

Believe me I know our schedule lol. Thing is think Baylor vs KState and Stanford vs Oregon and AM vs Bama. Coaching led to beating a superior team. We are going to hire a coach that will put us in a position to win games.

Mora is good, but he doesn't seem very loyal. Leonard Little post convinced me that Strong would most likely be a good hire to get recruits and fire up the team..

My logic says its not gonna happen. Doesn't mean I don't want it too. But fool me once shame on you,fool me twice shame on me. Feel me?

Strong, Fedora, or Fisher. One of those three are the next coach in my mind this morning. May actually hear today if Hart made a hire, Skeeter thought he may have hired Strong or Fedora yesterday. Apparently Hart interviewed them both.

Did Arkansas even reach out to him at all? There is so much BS out there... :crazy: That's why I don't fault anyone for believing what they want to believe. There is no consistency.

I like Strong. The more I read about Fedora the more I like him. I think either of them will bring what we need to be competitive. Strong can pull Tee and keep Pittman and Graham too I think. He is probably my #1 at this point.

I'd be happy, not excited, about Strong. I wouldn't be either happy or excited about Fedora.

I also still can't help but thinking yesterday's events just don't add up. Still no official statements from Hart or Gruden himself. If they were trying to end any rumors and buy time, that was the perfect way to do it. I acknowledge it's likely over and may have barely ever had a chance, but still.....
