Can't stress enough how much this is on Hart.

The thing is, if Hart's guy doesn't win, Hart will get fired. Maybe his coach too. But Gruden ain't gonna be around then. This is it.

This is the only time Gruden can ever be our coach. The stars aligned. Unless he pulls this back together, the unfortunate hire of Dave Hart has crushed this.

Alabama hunts down Saban relentlessly til he finally takes job. We have Gruden on a silver platter and give up.

Pathetic.

Can I ask whether your sources are putting this on Gruden or Hart? That is if Gruden is a no-go.

I've been thinking that also. Replace Stoops with Fisher and scarily enough, makes a heck of a lot of sense. As Fisher finishes his season, his assistants go elsewhere, Hart chases off Gruden, ends up hiring buddy from FSU.

1. I'm for Fisher if Gruden says NO.
2. I'm NOT for Fisher on principle if Hart or UTAD does ANYTHING to blow this deal.
3. I think it will be Gruden in the end. Boosters will win out.
4. If Gruden lost due to ANY fault of Hart or UTAD, Hart should be fired asap.

Franklin has done things in a similar academic situation and a fraction of the budget. He would be a HUGE upgrade over Dooley. He is going to win 9 games this year at Vandy. I prefer him to Strong or Fedora.

Don't love Franklin but agree he is a better option than those two.

Franklin was a somewhat hot commodity before he went to Vandy. He's only improved his stock.

Question: If we did not have the money to hire Gruden, despite booster involvement etc. and Hart knew we had to hire him and his staff what would he do? What I would probably do (since you can't just trick or treat your boosters for cash in a coaching search) is flirt on the line between Gruden and mediocrity and claim we don't have the money...sound familiar? How many boosters do you think have called our AD BEGGING them to hire Gruden in the last few weeks? smokescreens = buying time?

Not trying to sound delusional, just saing NO PART of this story adds up.

Have you heard anything in regards to a hangup concerning assistant contracts in terms of length of said contract? I imagine not many AD's want to go very long term that way.... Just grasping fir whatever... I can't believe it's really a $$$ issue...

All right I got this. Hart floated this info out this morning as a litmus test to see what the reaction would be after the TFP article last night.

He now realizes that he will be burned if he doesn't come through. He's about to pony up.

Not looking so good now, but I still have the same stance: I'll believe it's dead when I hear it from the AD or Gruden. None of this "my sources say" BS.

More on Gruden. I will get blasted for sharing that though since it is not what many on here want to hear. I am amazed how many pay attention only to info that supports what they want.

I am glad you are not afraid to take a stance you believe in, I wasn't trying to call you out. I was simply pointing out that you were not necessarily one that was full go from beginning to end. I appreciate your info and I feel some of the same way. I only know 2 things right now: I want this search over and I have no clue what to think.

Please not Strong. I live in the Louisville area and he can't even pull a local fast food (rally's) commercial with sounding like a goof ball and he is losing in the Big East!

Even if things turn out right with JG, this has been handled very strangely. I'm not sure Hart realizes that literally every Vol fan is teetering over the edge of a cliff right now.
