I just don't buy that at all. Any AD would have concerns giving a head coach that much power.

He has made good contact with several potential up and coming head coaches due to this. It will benefit in the long run as well.

He'd be a fool. Stay, and take all the credit. Memories are short, and can often be out-shouted.

...or stay and then quit after a few months, or even a year, so you can claim credit for the hire and be true to what you believe at the same time.

Doubt this is the case with the names he's bringing, I'm sure he's asking for a big buy out, and I guarantee there's a countered big buyout if that's the case. Also, I read his book, he hates moving around as a coach, he likes staying in 1 place... he literally hates Notre Dame because they let his dad go after the HC was fired and they had to move around.
