First off, stop being so childish with the Sandusky thing. What are we 10? So immature.

Second, what track record did Brady Hoke have? Jim Harbaugh? Hell even Jim Tressel when he was hired by Ohio State? There is numerous coaches who didn't have that sort of "track record" and do/did great on the recruiting trail. Dooley went 6-7 his first year and pulled a top 12 class. Fedora wins 8 games his first year here and he'll do very well.

I'm not trying to be negative or a naysayer, but looking at next year's schedule - we could resurrect General Neyland himself and struggle to win 8 games next year.

For what it's worth, the beating you are taking is unfair. From the jump, your source has clearly been different than Hyams. Therefore, people freaking out on you over Hyams comment is unfounded and unwarranted.

I am still all in. Until someone says otherwise, I think it is Gruden. I will support my alma mater either way, but this is the guy I want to see. To be shaken by the reports of two men is just unfathomable.

I take some shots at Hyams because he is not my favorite, but he is putting out the info from the people he has contacts with. You are doing the same.

Thank you for bringing it and please don't stop doing so.

:acute: Boro - what he said

No doubt. I think tomorrow if somebody(hubbs/lowe) doesn't give a 100per Gruden is out report in the media coming from a UT source then he is still very much in play for this reason.

I keep getting told all is working out.
I keep asking do you know what it looks like from out here.

I was just making a statement.

Eight games is going to be pretty damn hard next year.

I would rather have fedora than Golden

Larry Fedora is a very good coach.

He has several of the qualities that Hart espoused.
HC experience
SEC experience
History of turning around programs

Would rather see him than others listed.

Still think Gruden gets done.... until it doesn't.

Not for what he will generate and excitement he will bring. It was eventually going to get to this point and why not be the first ones to do it.

There is a line out there between the pros and college athletics. These numbers are well above the Line....

It should not get to this point in the college ranks ever. The NFL teams are businesses. Bud Adams bought the Oilers for 25,000.

You can generate revenue in college programs with lower salaries. Alabama is a great example. 5.3 mil to Satan per year.

Any coach that wants to work off of incentives I would be all for it. Give him a reasonable base salaries with incentives for wins, SEC CG, National Championships, BCs Bowl, recruiting class top 10 ranking, etc and so on.

Don't hand him the money up front make them earn it....

Seeing this post makes you much more believable to me( not that you care). That same logical approach is why I respect what carter says so much. Anyway. Lets hope it all works out but if it doesn't we are going to get a coach that wins and I don't care about winning the presser

Dude, it was a joke, lighten up.

On your second, Hoke is a UM man, so he's selling what he loves. Harbaugh is from a family that all they have is football in their blood. Tressel won 4 national championships at Youngstown state in 14 years there, before going to tOSU. Dooley pulled a Top 12 class because we spent almost 2 million dollars to do so, almost 1 million more than the next team. Fedora is right on with UNC's recent recruiting rankings, and is middle of the pack ACC. I don't forsee him becoming a top flight recruiter, which is what we need right now.

Obviously not you. Noted.

We shouldn't hire a coach based on how much is going to be there for the orange & white game.

As a Michigan fan who saw two big name coaches turn out the program (in Harbaugh and Miles) to get a guy from San Diego State who was 13-12, it's about getting the right guy and a guy who can win, not winning the press conference. Getting Gruden would be awesome and he would do really well here, but he's not the only coach

Got ya. That was definitely not a flame attempt (I still want to be involved in your bball discussions :)).

I just think that expectations need to be held in check for whoever we hire next year to include Gruden.
