Guy said his girlfriend had a class that Antoine Davis was speaking and said he had to leave class early (he's head of VFL) said he had a football meeting at 11am.

I haven't seen where player(s) were meeting, but thought that it was interesting too.

Thats it. Thanks for clarifying!

Basilo said UT wants to see what else is out there? Wtf ... and gruden lowered his demands? What the hell
No disrespect to the media but there are a lot of media peeps that want to throw in their 2 cents during this coaching search yet earlier in the season the same people were writing or airing out some pretty negative comments on TN.

Kinda bugs me when someone downs the program yet is all of the sudden wanting to help or knows the best intrest of the program

Big news. I know some candidates are playing this week but not all. If he is on campus all week I have to believe that points to gruden

I agree, and Gruden is the only person possible to announce in my eyes. If Gruden does not get finalized and we have to go with another plan, the announcement will not be this week. NO WAY Hart hires Golden without getting "No's" from several others. I have to think Golden is far enough down the list he would not be in play until after next week and other interviews with Stoops, Patterson, Peterson, Fisher, Mora Jr, etc....

utter stupidity coming from Basilio today. I am shocked that anyone who considers themselves credible would say that UT would pass on Gruden.

I think what he is trying to say is that UT is weighing the options. From a negotiation standpoint, UT needs to know that it has other options to talk Gruden down some if he truly wants the job. Also, it sounds like if we get Gruden that he is going to be expensive. IF he gets 50 mil for 8 years, then you can't get rid of him in four or five years even if he doesn't translate to College football and has Dooley like seasons... Do I think Gruden is the best hire out there? Yes, but I also know that if you give him that kind of money and it doesn't workout, then you are set back 10 years... The boosters and Hart are weighing their options and making sure they make the best hire they can make for UT... Honestly, would you not want them to look at all options and make the most informed decision possible?

This is the bottom line. If what I just heard is true and that DP said gruden's agent has contacted UT. That means we have Gruden. If Peyton Manning can sell UT to Gruden he can most certainly sell Jon Gruden to Dave Hart. IMO this is now a lock. Peyton FTW!!

I read up on Bob LaMonte (Grudes agent), he doesn't do interviews. Gruden refers to him as 007 secret agent. Oakland didn't know he wasn't gone till he was in Tampa.

Whatever he says in the press, you can bank on it.

From article below...

"...Laugh if you want. Fox did. The previous NFL season was the most public time of LaMonte's career. Jon Gruden provided a severe test of LaMonte's belief that an agent should stay out of the papers unless it's to take a hit and keep his client looking good.

Gruden never openly said he wanted to leave the Raiders, right up until the Tampa Bay Buccaneers whisked him away under cover of darkness Feb. 18. But LaMonte had been sparring with the team over Gruden's contract for more than a year. In that time, the coach's name was linked to college jobs at Ohio State, Notre Dame and Florida. Gruden laughed off the talk and began referring to LaMonte as ``007,'' the secret agent. Many in the Raiders organization believed the problem was not in the Gruden-Al Davis relationship but in LaMonte's public posturing..."

I hope there are a few high school coaches on the list in front of Golden.

Nope. Saw it. You were referring to real world people outside of here (a forum)...however...your biggest issue at this time appears to be with those "here" in a "Gruden" thread...and all the Gruden hopeful...like we are crazy or something...nobody sees you disagreeing with the guy at Pilot or Walmart...but everybody here sees you disagreeing with Grudenites in an obviously "Pro Gruden" thread...that could be why you've never seen it anywhere else you would have to leave this thread to see the negagrudes or pro strongs, etc....and I was pointing out if you want to discuss other coaches or the possibility of a non Gruden hire...there is a place for that...not here...not fighting man, just saying, if you cant believe all the Gruden hype, considering where you're trying to disbelieve it, maybe its time to find a new thread to play in...

Then ur just not reading it right.. I wasn't disagreeing with anything about Gruden.. I was saying that this board would have a bigger meltdown than anywhere else because this place has so many people that are bought in 100%.. Ppl outside this site don't have as much confidence in Gruden happening.

I like how Jack said that it is down to two candidates and Gruden and "?" Is the other. Of course he will say that because whoever it is if Gruden isn't hired he will still be right. Jack is annoying! I'd rather hear Titans Bill at this point.

There is no way a scenario exists where Gruden is seriously interested in the job and we're keeping him on the "sideline" to consider other candidates, outside of doing due diligence in regards to the hire anyway.

The money movement, the credible rumors that this has been in the works for awhile, Hart knowing the whole Vol-Nation wants this and not immediately shutting it down to temper our expectations....it just doesn't add up.

Odds are what some of the OGs have said all along - this has been in play for awhile, they're taking the proper course to give the appearance of respect to DD and nothing shady in regards to the hiring process, and they're throwing out subtle smokescreens (without directly killing the possibility) to drag out this roller-coaster for maximum publicity/fan approval once it happens.

Gruden is coming.

Gruden is by far the best hire from a money and recruiting standpoint. Nobody else will match him in those two categories.

If a candidate says "process" or it's "not about wins but improvement" they shall be summarily dismissed from consideration.
