Yeah, I wouldn't want to give Gruden the same control that Saban has at Alabama. I mean, look how bad Saban has f'ed up that program.

This is actually believable. That kind of thing happens a lot, and is why AD's try to keep things under wraps as long as they can.

What control exactly does Saban have that other coaches want to have at their universities that a reasonable AD won't give them???

Why wouldn't a coach have total control? That just makes no sense to me. Even dooley should have had total control of the football program, imo.

Agreed. He said he gave DD free reign to hire and fire assistant coaches.

Don't understand why there would be any type of hold up on giving Gruden a larger amount of control. It's not like he's never run a staff before. He's a better staff manger than Saban for sure.

Maybe that's the REAL reason why Hart left Alabama? Nick was basically running the show and Hart was the face. Ugh...I hope not though.

I wouldn't think total control would be a problem. Obviously Dooley had it for 3 years..no one stopped him from the devastation he bestowed on us!!!

Budget and hiring all staff members are the only two things I can think of on this control subject. What am I missing?
