LOL! He is a loud mouth, but he is connected.

I have been around Clay a few times and he's really a good guy just trying to do like the rest of us and make a living. For all his James Franklin and anti-dooley talk he really is a huge ut fan.

Just posting my opinion like everyone else. I don't see the need to take it to personally. If you all really believe what you've been told, that it's all done, then my opinion should really mean nothing to you whatsoever. Just being a voice of caution.

did Boro say something about 24-48 hrs a day or 2 ago, say it's done and also say they bought a house?

I didn't read it, but somebody else mentioned it. Is that what he mentioned?

Not sure if this is an accurate assessment, if it's not, if he was kidding or what.

Don't want to answer for him, but he said the info will be hard to keep quiet over that time period and it COULD start to leak.

JMO but I think it is just Stoop's agent doing his job. The UT job is a major job opening and he is keeping his client's name out there. I doubt there is any serious interest.

You may be right but this is his 14th yr and things could be getting stale, ala Fulmer.

I am a nobody, but I am addicted to watching this coaching change unfold. I come to this thread to see the wild speculation and people who claim to have inside knowledge. However this place is devolving into a pissing match between believers and trolls who come into the GRUDEN thread just to tell everyone how stupid they are.

Bring back the speculation and inside(faux?) info! Bring GRUDEN!

I'm with you. I started following back around Gruden II or II because this is the only worthwhile diversion from another debacle on the football field. In fact, I credit the Gruden threads as saving what little sanity I have left.

I've enjoyed having something to hitch my wagon to and I am still 100% on the GruTrain.

For the posters who are saying that Gruden is not coming, care to offer why you think this? Is it something that has not been discussed in the previous ten threads? Is it something more than a "gut" feeling?

If you read back a few pages, Boro says that he speculated that it would be in the next 48 hours; but never stated that it was fact.(My words, but I think it is an acurate reflection of what he said)

I didn't get upset. Lets hope we get the best coach available.

But if I can't quote Dave Hart directly, then I'd get nervous that I was being set up for some reason.
Ask anyone who has ever broken any story how terrifying it is to break a story when no one else has it and you'll see that most who do it don't go into it lightly.
Especially in a coaching search like this. Because you can be 100% correct at the time you break the story and then a coach can change his mind and make you 100% wrong. Malzahn accepted the Vandy job and then rescinded his acceptance. Vandy ended up much better off -- no way Malzahn has come in and had the impact James Franklin has -- but it's an example of how messy the process can be. Ask any athletic director involved in the process and they can tell you countless stories about near misses. Times when they believed they had their guy and then he switched at the last possible moment.
Recent case in point for OKTC, Peyton Manning to the Titans. If I told you the guys who I'd been talking with throughout that process -- and from how many different angles they were coming from -- you guys would be like, "Holy s---!" But I can't. And so when Peyton makes his mind up and it surprises everyone around him, you can be wrong despite having been right up to that point. And you're just left out there hanging in the breeze.
I'd still write that Gruden was the next coach of the Vols, because you have to trust the athletic director, but if I turned out to be wrong then I'd get killed for being wrong and I'd just have to take it.
Even though it would have come from someone that every single one of you would have trusted as well.

Not arguing with you here. The term charlatan bothers me. If that's the case, Clay Travis, Ron Higgins, Erin Andrews, Dan Patrick, many more credible media members are "charlatans" then. There is more smoke here than just some Posters on a message board.

If anyone actually thinks Clay Travis has a source then they need to go plough a field.

Post like this is why I wouldn't have shared what they did. You sound like a child as well.

That quote above was from the mail bag when asked how he would break the story IF Hart gave it to him on a silver platter.

Right, but he would end up being more expensive in the immediate than Gruden, considering the size of his buyout.

Not in the long run it wouldnt. His assistants wouldnt cost anywhere near Grudens. I prefer Gruden but just saying if plan b happens then its an option along with Jimbo and Strong.

I really hate that our fan base assumes the worst instead of hoping for the best.

I think that we have become conditioned for times like this. The last 4 years have made it easier to fall into despair. I normally just lurk out here....but I as a season ticker holder and a donor...I'm ready for this fanbase to be united and come together. It's been awhile. Just surviving the rollercaster ride this AM and hoping to hear something really positive later today. GO VOLS!!:good!:

I am a super hopeful skeptic...I want to be 100%, but the naysayers get in my head from time to time. Unlike u, this board drives me bonkers. Of course, I am a tad nuts anyway....
