Hubbs suggested we have a list of potential coaches...believeable.
Hubbs also said Hart has not spoken to any of them.....not believeable...
Yep... Hart would be idiotically inept not to have begun discussions of interest with at least one potential candidate. Each coach he phones is just another of the "required interviews" out of the way.
I believe Hart will continue to contact potential candidates to determine who would be interested in coming to UT. He is probably still working with the powers that be to develop the parameters he can offer to each candidate, i.e., he can't offer Strong the same amount he could offer Gruden, etc.
I know we're all impatient, but Hart is doing his homework to make sure his $750K annual salary stays intact, so he will hire the best available for what Manning, Haslam, Thornton, and other "prominent donors" will pony up.
I would like to see a Gruden hire, but I will not get my drawers tied in a knot if he decides to stay with his cushy ESPN gig. There are a number of other good, successful college coaches available who would do very well on the hill. Patterson, Gundy, Tuberville, Mullen, Mora, Fedora, and perhaps even NFL-ers: Dungy, Smith, or Cowher. Many of these coaches should do us proud for less $$$ than Gruden, which would give us more $$$ to spend on an all-star assistant coaching staff.
GBO!
