...as I have stated before I sympathize with the other fans in this conference because they are about to have the same "OH $hit" moment I had when Florida hired Spurrier and Bama hired Saban. It is kind of a sick feeling that starts way down deep in the pit of your stomach. You want to deny it is there and rationalize that they won't work out perhaps.....who am I kidding??? I want all of you my SEC brothers to feel the pain!!!

My daughter is now 19 and a sophmore at UT, seems like just yesterday I was bringing her home from the hospital.

Yikes! I remember what it was like to be a 19 to boy chasing 19 to chics at UT!!

Sorry, I owed you one!!

How long do you guys think Gruden stays here before the lure of the NFL becomes too much?

Who CARES?????? How long before your coach looses his mind and goes Tubberville on someone? If we have Gruden for 3 years, it will be light years better than the previous three.

I don't know about others, but if/when he takes this job, he's obviously choosing it over other offers to coach in the NFL, namely Philly.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think he's here for the long-haul if/when he comes here.

I find it hard to believe that 22 years ago you had that feeling when Florida hired the coach from Duke.

That doesn't make alot of sense.

I think it would have to be until he won a NC. He already won a superbowl, so he has reached that peak. I think after he won one NC, then maybe you could bring that up. He is a competitor, so I dont know. I believe he would stay. He likes UT and Majors. I think he would be in it for the long run. The only thing NFL would do is give him the money, but the way college is going, they are almost one in the same.

I agree...if mama ain't happy nobody's happy. I think if he had an itch for the NFL he would go now.

This 10yr at 50mil talk got me thinking. IMO wthout huge support of donars the university can't take that big of risk. Lets assume for just a minute that a booster is willing to give a portion of that money to cover but the other portion is loaned by the same booster to the university with the understanding that it be paid back if the attendance number described here pay dividends.

Is it legal for an AD to borrow money with an understanding of paying back money with the booster assuming the risk???

Depends on a few factors. I think he wants the 10 year contract to coach his sons at UT. He recently spent time coaching their highschool team, and I could see him having them walk-on at UT to get some time with them on the field. After that, it'll be a question of whether he wants to challenge himself or stay comfortable. Who knows what happens 5 or 6 years down the road, but if he leaves us as a team that averages 10 wins a year, it will have been worth the time and money invested.

EXACTLY! Muscrat is a rage fit away from popping an artery or killing someone...complete doosh...

Easy for me to say regardless of circumstance. We pay coaches, specifically football coaches, way too much money for what they do.

I don't care how much you are winning or losing. Paying someone 4-5 million dollars to coach a sport is overboard. Like I said, it's probably market-driven, but it's just sad we've gotten to that point in society where we don't care what we pay our coach if he is winning, but get frustrated when we find out our boss makes 100K and think "he/she is overpaid, not worth it." etc

True, but look at what athletes are making now. Like you say, market driven.

Not at all. I think UF fans who always yap about Peyton never beating Florida are stupid.

It didn't change the fact the guy was a phenomenal player.

I doubt that. His oldest son is 5'6" and only got an offer from some d3 school in Pennsylvania. Maybe in 10 years his other kids would be done with school and he wants them to stay in one place.

Mort on the zone, paraphrased:

Philly, Browns, San Diego, Cowboys.

Young coach will coach again

CBA may make the NFL not appealing to him

Will he look at collegiate level, intriguing to him.
