Official Jon Gruden Thread V

The idea of this thing, and by thing I mean Doofus and staff, carrying over to the offseason makes me want to puke.

No way that happens, imo. However, a month of addressing rumors is easier that 2 to 2 1/2 months of doing it.

Dooley is gone shortly after KY, imo.

I understand why you feel this way, but let me offer an alternate hypothesis. As long as there's no opening, neither Hart nor Gruden have to address the rumors. If someone asks, all they have to say is there is no opening. Perhaps Gruden wants to finish MNF. Perhaps he has an out to coach again, but there's a contingency that he can't leave mid-season without a penalty.

As bad as I hate not severing ties with Dooley, there's a reason we haven't. I provided some possibilities as to why it hasn't and why Gruden's camp who knows the talk that out there has remained silent as well. It's not all so simple.

There ya go.

I'm a realist.

It's obvious to anyone that follows this thread religiously like I have that the rumors and news on Gruden have slowed. In fact, the media is starting to put their 2 cents in and most of the reports aren't good. This may be smoke or a cover up. It may be the truth. Who knows at this point?
Wow. I'm impressed, usually I skip posts that start with, I'm a realist. Because those posts are usually so negative and narrow minded and attacking. But your post is ok. Thank you.

It will be interesting to see if we lose to Missouri and Vandy which both are very possible. How Hart will react into making a decision...

Did you read Mitch Barnett's Open Letter that was linked above? These three sentences stood out and are DIRECTLY applicable to our situation as well.

1. College athletics is now being referred to as the business of college sports. One would be hard-pressed to argue.
2. We have invested significantly in our sports programs, mostly on the backs of football and men's basketball.
3. Right or wrong, we must respond to those realities to protect the 22 programs and 500-plus student-athletes for whom we provide.

So Hart will have to face the hard cold realities regardless of his feelings for Dooley...it's just a matter of time....the empty seats in Neyland tell you all you need to know.

Seriously Adams won't make a change. He loves Munch. I wouldn't mind seeing jay Gruden get a chance here. Saban would be another

You're right..He probably won't but I always still look at the possibility..Jay Gruden,Greg Roman, or of course Saban would all be good choices.

Good post. If he ignores this, he can "retire" early.

They won't be 60,000 people at the ky game! Hell be the first time I can remember vandy out numbering us at Nashville...lol

A copy of this letter should be laying on Hart's desk at 8 AM Monday morning.
