I want JG as much as anybody but i am beginning to think if he was ready to get on board..Dooley would-be on the street!!

Exactly.

Outside of Carroll, Stoops, Meyer, and Gruden - there are no 'splashes' to be had.

Although coaches like Patterson and Peterson would be solid, quality hires - we need the splash.

Agree. IMO, we may be better off hiring an NFL OC or DC who can bring in amazing assistants for recruiting and coaching the kids up.

I think that hiring a Del Rio or Rogan may be able to give us some splash, though not as much as Gruden, Carroll, Stoops, etc. (Kinda like Weis did for Notre Dame, though he is a horrible head coach).

Maybe even Jason Garrett after he's fired by Jerry Jones this year.

Believe Garrett's name was mentioned when he was the OC of the Cowboys.

The silence is deafening from the Hart and Gruden camps. Until proven otherwise I have no desire to consider any other head coach than Jon Gruden.

He sure did. He doesn't post in this thread often. I was referring to Jay, DTO, Boro

I'm a realist.

It's obvious to anyone that follows this thread religiously like I have that the rumors and news on Gruden have slowed. In fact, the media is starting to put their 2 cents in and most of the reports aren't good. This may be smoke or a cover up. It may be the truth. Who knows at this point?

You are totally wrong with your line of thinking.

Now is not the time for any announcement on many different levels but none of it has to do with what you spoke of.

I have no clue if its true either way. I want JG here. I hope he comes.

I understand why you feel this way, but let me offer an alternate hypothesis. As long as there's no opening, neither Hart nor Gruden have to address the rumors. If someone asks, all they have to say is there is no opening. Perhaps Gruden wants to finish MNF. Perhaps he has an out to coach again, but there's a contingency that he can't leave mid-season without a penalty.

As bad as I hate not severing ties with Dooley, there's a reason we haven't. I provided some possibilities as to why it hasn't and why Gruden's camp who knows the talk that out there has remained silent as well. It's not all so simple.

There's only 2 or 3 guys on the level of Gruden.

Carroll, Meyer, Stoops, and Gruden.

The only one we have a chance of getting is Gruden, and apparently we probably don't get him.

Everyone else (although quality hires) is a huge drop off.

Jim Harbaugh certainly wouldn't be a drop off. In fact he has more proven success when you combine both college and pro, than anyone you listed. That being said, we have no chance in hell of getting him. He's focused on winning a super bowl with SF.

The idea of this thing, and by thing I mean Doofus and staff, carrying over to the offseason makes me want to puke.

I tried to keep it some what realistic.

No way in hell Harbaugh leaves the NFL or the west coast.

But Greg Roman would be a possibility for a team.
